My everyday hats are "outback" style so don't work so well with my headphone style ear defenders when I'm out mowing.This hat readily folds up at the sides to accommodate the ear defenders at the same time as keeping the sun and bugs off my head.Plus it acts as a first defense against head height sticker bushes as I ram the tractor into the untamed brush that we got stuck with when we bought our farm.So the hat has been ripped off my head on a number of occasions, on one of which it went under the brush hog at the back of the tractor I was driving at the time.Compare the damage that the brush hog did to the hat vs what it did to the tractor tail pipe that got dragged off and hogged over at the weekend. I'm glad I wasn't wearing the tail pipe.Rob.

The Tilley T5MO Hat is a very good hat for sun protection! Fits very well. Just make sure that you get the right size for your Head. What size Hat? You can look at Tilley's Size chart for proper head Sizeing. Good for traveling! Hat can be crushed no problem. Can be washed. Hand washing is better it will stay in shape the brim on this hat is about 2 and one half of an inch wide for sun protection. Now if you want a wider brim look at the Tilley T3 Hat. All good Hats to buy! 👌

I've owned a nylon Tilley rain hat for many years. It's still as good as new.I wanted a more breathable sun hat to protect from skin cancer. This one is super comfortable and I am very happy with it. Though the brim is listed as medium, not wide, on the Tilley website, it is plenty wide enough to shield your face and neck.The appearance is nice, too. I've been getting compliments.I had to buy and return twice before getting the size just right, but I'm glad i did!

I bought this hat because I'd be spending a lit of time outside for field work and needed the best protection form the sun that I could find. I was proud t buy a Tilley Hat and excited when I received it. But, as I wore it in the field, I found that it annoyed me alot. If you are climbing or using a hand lens, the hat is easy bumped off. Sometimes long range visibility is also difficult when climbing a mountain with this hat on. I ended up switching to a traditional baseball cap and that worked much better for me.I'm thinking this is a great hat for kayaking or light hiking. Maybe even gardening. But if you are going into the wilderness and going to be climbing and / or collecting samples, I'm not sure this is the most comfortable way to go.

From what I've observed this is one of the most common hats for use on the water on Galveston Bay. The heat and humidity are ferocious and it's often windy.The hat addresses the wind by having both a chin and a back strap. The heat and humidity by top ventilated fabric and by the wearer ordering a size too large. By having a small gap around the head, air can freely circulate (like on the old British Pith Helmets).I think I have 4 or 5 of these, split between two different models. Some of the brass grommets have turned green from the salt, but the hats are all serviceable. Highly recommended.

I like this hat a lot. It looks very cool and seems durable. But I do have to say that it is almost impossible to tell if this hat will fit you from the sizing. I think I got lucky. The one negative of the hat is that the brim is not super long. It doesn't really block sun from the back of your neck if that's what you are looking for. I think they make a square head style that has a bigger brim. Go to the Tilley website and compare the dimensions between this and other hats.

It fits well and is well made. I wanted a shorter brim hat that looked more like a fedora than a boonie. Like the little pocket for a cash stash. Pricey but it is a quality hat

Love it colour is great just a light pale green If the weather is windy it has straps to fasten for security sun or rain i have used mine

First saw this hat whilst visiting Canada, a brilliant hat, wouldn't be without it.
