Works great as an upgrade for Dell Optiplex 745 SFF
I plugged it right in to my Dell Optiplex 745 Small Form Factor machine (not the smallest, but not a full desktop case either) and everything worked without any upgrades necessary. The power supply doesn't complain at all and I love the improvement in responsiveness.Keep in mind, I upgraded from a Core2Duo 2.13GHz proc to this Core2Quad 2.4GHz, so the improvement in responsiveness is really coming from the slight increase in GHz, not the extra two cores. I use this system to code with, and when I go to create multi-thread software, it is nice when I have two extra cores to use.Great processor for an incredible price.

Fantastic!
The processor came in an anti-static bag, clear of any fingerprints, marks, scratches or anything else considered harmful to the CPU. It's now powering the computer in which I'm writing this review on, and it works just fine. The only problem I had with this processor was figuring out how much thermal compound to put on top for the heat sink, make sure you do your research on how to do that and if your motherboard is in fact compatible with this CPU.

I have another computer with a quad core AMD A8 processor that is lightning fast and probably makes for a bad comparison. If you
I bought this to replace a single core Pentium processor on an existing motherboard. I was hoping the quad core would speed it up a lot. It is faster but probably not as fast as I hoped. I have another computer with a quad core AMD A8 processor that is lightning fast and probably makes for a bad comparison. If you get this one, don't set your expectations too high.

Best processor for LGA 775!
Upgraded my old Dell XPS 410 to this from a Core 2 Duo E6300, and the difference is like night and day. I can finally play stuff like TF2 without slowdown, and having four significantly faster cores vs. two makes compiling software go MUCH quicker. I'm actually going to miss this processor once I build my new computer for Christmas, it's served me very well. Might even keep it as a backup in case the built computer fails or something. I HIGHLY recommend this processor for anyone still on a Core 2 Duo, it's amazing bang-for-your-dollar if you buy it used.

Great upgrade from my Pentium D chip
Upgraded from a Pentium D chip on a Windows Vista system and it sure improved it's performance. Faster start time; shut down time; I use the tower exclusively as a flight simulator and it runs my FSX perfectly now, from the rare to occasional stutters I'd get in the sim with the Pentium D chip. Install was a breeze. Wasn't told it came with it's own cooling fan; so I guess I can return the one I bought separately.

so i recommended an upgrade
While doing main a computer, i noticed the computer was slowing down in its old age, so i recommended an upgrade. I got the Q6600 quad core cpu,Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, 4GB of DDR2 Ram to go with the 4 that was already present, a wireless card, a low power video card, a new power supply and an ssd to increase productivity of his old desktop. The Q6600 is a great standard user processor and can even be used for light gaming with today's standards.http://www.amazon.com/Komputerbay-667MHz-PC2-5300-PC2-5400-Desktop/dp/B004LTCHSO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1439772084&sr=1-1&keywords=Komputerbay+4GB+2X+2GB+DDR2+667MHz+PC2-5300+PC2-5400+DDR2+667+%28240+PIN%29+DIMM+Desktop+Memoryhttp://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WDN4800-Wireless-Express-Low-profile/dp/B007GMPZ0A/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1439772119&sr=1-1&keywords=TP-LINK+TL-WDN4800+Dual+Band+Wireless+N900+PCI+Express+Adapter%2C2.4GHz+450Mbps%2F5Ghz+450Mbps%2C+Include+Low-profile+Brackethttp://www.amazon.com/SABRENT-Inches-Internal-Mounting-BK-HDDH/dp/B00G57BN1M/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1439772144&sr=1-1&keywords=SABRENT+2.5+to+3.5+Inches+Internal+Hard+Disk+Drive+Mounting+Kit+%28BK-HDDH%29http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Warranty-100-W1-0500-KR-Replacement-computer/dp/B00H33SFJU/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1439772219&sr=1-1&keywords=EVGA+500+W1+80%2B%2C+500W+3+Year+Warranty+Power+Supply+100-W1-0500-KR+%28Replacement+part+for+computer+unit%29http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Profile-PCI-Express-R6450-MD1GD3-LP/dp/B004X6ABTM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1439772277&sr=1-1&keywords=MSI+ATI+Radeon+HD6450+1+GB+DDR3+VGA%2FDVI%2FHDMI+Low+Profile+PCI-Express+Video+Card+R6450-MD1GD3%2FLPhttp://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-SSDNow-SV300S37A-120G/dp/B00A1ZTZOG/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1439772321&sr=1-1&keywords=Kingston+Digital+120GB+SSDNow+V300+SATA+3+2.5+%287mm+height%29+Solid+State+Drive+%28SV300S37A%2F120G%29Above are the parts that i used and i will be writing a review on each part.

Powerful... Affordable...
I used this to upgrade from an older Pentium Dual Core. My PC is a custom build and I tend to use components tha, while effective, are a few years out of date; it keeps me from burning too much money. My old Pentium CPU was ok but I wanted something more powerful. I've been watching the technology, waiting for the right time to upgrade my rig but I didn't want to cough up the dough. The Core 2 Quad is one of the fastest CPUs my motherboard will take. Priced at half a Benjamin Franklin, I figured "sure... I'll take the bait...". This was easily the best 50 bucks I ever spent on a computer hardware component.
