The Permatex turns to the hard surface side in a few days and as it gets older turns hard like tar in pavement. Maybe hard like pavement is an overstatement but it does not stay soft like rubberized. Permatex can be painted over, rubberized I would think would not be paintable. **Q: The last ones i bought the sprayers were messed up, are these the same** A: All of the cans I used worked well. Purchased I made was long time past. But still have cans that spray very well. Good Luck ps dont store them in hot or very cold place.
