Road Top Wireless Carplay Retrofit Kit Decoder for Mercedes Benz A/B/C/GLK/GLA/GLC/GLS/ML/GL/SLK/E/G/V Class 2011-2015 Year with NTG4.5/4.7 System, Compatible with Apple Carplay & Android Auto

I bought the RoadTop Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto Box and installed into my Mercedes C Class Coupe W204. It cost around £40 to be fitted by the local car audio shop in under an hour. The RoadTop box was hidden under the glove box so you wouldn't notice it was there. The RoadTop box is a great upgrade to the existing Command system. Now I have Android Auto with Deezer, Google Maps, Waze, much better voice control with Ok Google, and the additional audio processor with audio streaming over WIFI vs Bluetooth makes the sound fantastic. I recently upgraded my built in speakers with Morel Maximo Ultra 602 which combined with RoadTop offers a slick upgrade for a low price. Some of these other boxes on the market do exactly the same but cost 2 or 3 times the price. A few questions I were quickly resolved by speaking to Road Top support via email, or WhatApp.I would recommend to bring your car technology into 2020 vs the old Command which was designed back in 2006 or so. Existing command still works fine as does FM Radio/DAB, SatNav, etc, you just hold down the C button to swap back and change audio from Aux.

When the product was working it was excellent. Unfortunately after less than 2 weeks the unit has failed and now doesn’t work at all. I have been in contact with the customer support which unfortunately is in China (this means long delays between messages due to the time difference) and have tried many different suggestions, most of which were no help at all. Now I have finally been informed to send it back and request a new one, the problem with this is that installing all of the cabling was the most difficult bit of the installation so I will now have to remove it all to send it back only to have to take everything to bits again to fit the new one. A more satisfactory solution would be to send a new unit and swap it onto the already installed cabling. Although the unit does work very well once it’s installed this level of reliability isn’t good.Update 29/9/20I was sent a new unit which worked very well but I started to notice that the unit was a bit of a draw on the battery when the car was switched off. To this end I got in touch with the customer support who recommended doing a MCU update and a system update. The MCU update went fine and then I moved onto the system update which has totally bricked the unit which now doesn’t even turn on again.As mentioned above, when it works it is superb. The problems like this though make it so that I wouldn’t really recommend installing one now.

I ordered this tentatively as some of the reviews and comments were not great, but figured that you’ll hear from the unhappy people but those who are happy are likely silent.In turns out I was right! The package arrived quickly and I was assured by the quality of the materials used and quality of the components. I arrange someone to fit the equipment as I didn’t fancy pulling apart the interior of my car. He arrived and 90 mins later, all installed. This guy does some high end installs and was suitably impressed.My phone easily paired and my eight year old car was fully CarPlay enabled. The audio quality is great and the integration into car is fine. Even my Mrs. is impressed.For a fraction of what it costs to update manufacturer maps, I now have OTA maps fromApple, Google or TomTom ready to go, my choice of music supplier and my phone safely tucked away as it’s all voice controlled.I now can’t let imagine my car without it

Relatively easy to fit, response from technical support a bit iffy. Works well, mild hiss on sound. Manufactured in China. Update: required technical support, lamia helped me resolve the problems with a firmware update etc. thanks for the great support.

I bought this expecting it to work flawlessly but the first issue I Had was it doesn't turn off with the ignition switched off so it has constant power going to it . Second issue is the Bluetooth it's terrible compared to mercedes one . The only good thing is the reverse camera function. Other than that I wouldn't recommend.

Recently bought a 2012 Mercedes SLK which already had the command system installed but wanted access to DAB via iPhone app, Wireless CarPlay and also reversing camera to aid over shoulder viewing for someone with a neck/back issue. Delivery was very prompt and secure requiring a one time code upon delivery (a new one for me).Unit arrived well packaged and even included tools for trim removal. I set about installing it just as the weather turned to winter so took a little longer than I would normally expect having to break to thaw out!. Following the link included in the manual I managed to swiftly gain access behind/remove required trim and centre console. Followed the instructions as per the book installing the unit beside the existing head unit easily able to access in future by removing the glove box and swiftly had the interface operating. Unfortunately I could get no audio from the unit via car play. I proved the AMI interface was working by playing directly into the 3.5mm jack from an old iPod. I contacted Road Top support and by morning had a reply suggesting some solutions most of which I had already tried/checked. The last item was to connect audio ground wire to the ground wire coming from the unit which the instructions say only to do if you have distorted or clicking audio. A few days later tried this connection and the audio worked immediately. Thanks to Lamia at their Tech Support for the info who responded very promptly to emails overnight.I have now also installed a forward looking camera and a reverse cameraSometimes there are the odd Car Play glitches but nothing worse than I see on my BMW iDrive 7 or the VW MIB3 system and they always clear with in a few seconds.All in all a cost effective upgrade, obviously time will tell for reliability

Only buy if you are sure it will work spent days messaging them trying to find out if it works on my car to find out no it doesn’t when it clearly says it does it take a day to get a response back
