Feels as though your feet are naked when you walk in these sandals. The feet are well held but not tightly. The straps can be adjusted in three places so that you can choose how you want your feet to be held. This is my first pair of Birkenstocks and now I know what the hype and enthusiasm about these sandals is about. They are worth the price. The pair I bought have leather straps which I am happy with as there are versions of these sandals that have synthetic uppers. Would buy again.
