Old fashioned Thanksgiving
Really lovely illustrations, like showing a fire burning oven. My daughter loved it and wanted to help cook, just like the children in the story.

I read this book to my pre-k class! It is now one of my top favorite Thanksgiving books for kids!
After reading the book I lead my class into discussion about what their family does on Thanksgiving and what kinds of food they eat.

So sweet
Loved it! Written in such a sweet sing-songy way. A great Thanksgiving book which is not the easiest thing to find. The story brings you through a big family all working together to make a Thanksgiving feast and then sit down and and express that they are thankful for the blessings that they have received. Great for boys or girls as the one who is narrating is a red haired little boy. I love it as I have three little boys. It seems there are plenty of holiday books for girls but not as many that are real great for boys.

New family classic!
We fell in love with Jill McElmurry's animation in The Little Blue Truck series and when I found this Thanksgiving book, I knew we would love it. We did. The animation style is beautiful, and my kids love repeating and reading along with the rhythmic lines of the story of a family celebrating Thanksgiving together, sharing the duties of making the family meal. It's a story that celebrates what is good about the Thanksgiving holiday and doesn't get ridiculous or silly while still appealing to young minds and hearts. A new family classic for us.

Our grandchildren ages 3-6 adore this book! Buy it now!!
Our grandchildren adore this book! My daughter and her family planned to have Thanksgiving dinner out at a restaurant this year. I sent this book since we weren’t able to be there with them and after it was read to,them, insisted that they have Thanksgiving dinner at home and invite friends over. They even lined up all of the food on the table just like the people in the book. It’s an adorable rhyming book about sharing. You’ll love it and so will they. Enjoy!

Not exactly what I expected...
I picked up this book thinking that it was going to be a bit more in depth. I was wrong. It is written for the young, and it is in a rhyme...and not really clever rhyming either. However, my children have picked up the book on their own a few times to look at and they ask questions which allows for conversations about sharing, etc.If I had opened the book at a bookstore I may not have purchased it, but it's here so I will keep it.

Useful for Thanksgiving traditions but rhymes a bit forced
This might be useful in school, or at home, if looking back at Thanksgiving traditions but I found the rhymes a bit forced and there was a lot more focus on food than thankfulness. I can imagine if you lived in a household that celebrated Thanksgiving it might be a fun book for a younger audience.
