It has several functions; as well as heat recovery it functions as a heat-conductor and a moisture extractor. The output of the extractor unit utilises energy from the intake air via an effective heat exchanger to contribute to reducing the buildings energy requirement. Energy-saving rates of up to 75% can be achieved with a Boulder Developments heat recovery system. This product is CE certified.

Avoid this product and the company!
My experience with this company is terrible. I've purchased from them a HRVU DHV-15B system few months ago. My first impression when I opened the box was the quality of the product, the heat exchanger didn't look right to me as it didn't properly fit in the unit. The exchanger it self is made of layers of kitchen foil separated by strips of plastic, every layer of the foil is penetrated during the manufacturing process. It raised some suspicions in my mind I've and phoned the customer support, I was assured that this is normal condition as the system runs in low air pressure and the holes in foil that supposed to separate the exhaust and fresh air won't effect the performance. After having system running for couple of weeks and trying to convince myself that the moisture and shampoo fragrance to be pumped back to the house through fresh air vents is normal operation of the unit when you take a shower, I've contacted customer support and send the unit back to be tested. After a long wait of few weeks I received my unit back with test results and "improvements" made. To my disappointment the "improvements" was a strips of foam put between the exchanger and the unit case to seal the gaps in order to prevent fresh air to be mixed with the exhaust, in closer look this foam didn't event touch the exchanger in some places leaving gaps of 15mm wide. Nothing was done with the exchanger it self and the hundreds of tiny holes in the foil are still there. Boulder developments is claiming 90% of efficiency can be achieved with this heat exchanger, this "efficiency" is achieved by not recovering the heat from the building but by mixing the exhaust air with a fresh one taken from outside. I can't not to mention the air filters, they're absolutely disaster, they don't fit properly in the unit leaving massive gaps on each side of them allowing the dust and fly's to go through. The list of faults can go on and on... The quality of the product is very poor, the design is even poorer. This isn't the end of my experience. Customer support is terrible, I've emailed listing the issues, few day's later I received a confirmation email that my message is received and passed to the person who can deal with it. Another couple of weeks had gone and no response, I emailed again and received another confirmation that my message is received and passed to the person who deals with it, but he's out of the country. I've waited another couple of weeks and no response. Today I've made a number of phone calls, and every time the person in charge was on the phone and I had to leave a message. When I asked the name of who is in charge they put the phone down on me.Tomorrow I'll be phoning again...Do not repeat my experience! Avoid this company!
