Watershots are easy with the Watershot underwater case
Let us be very clear here (pun intended), the case is awesome. The software on the other hand needs some work. The case works exactly as a high end underwater case should work. Perfectly each time. The gasket is good. The seal around the lens to help combat condensation is inspired and works well. The safety lock on the latch is awesome. You have to really, really go out of your way to open the case underwater by mistake. The software sucks. I actually wrote a note to another camera app vendor and suggested they offer an in-app feature to change the buttons slightly since their software works so much better. The included software is clunky but it will get the job done with some practice. I wish there was someway to set the focus/exposure point but since you can't touch the screen due to the hard case, too bad. The iPhone needs to be tweaked to work right and you should know that this will drain a battery fast because the screen is always on. Even their "sleep" mode is not really sleep. And the phone will get hot after 30-45 mins. So I limit my use to 30 mins and then I get out and open the case for a while.Overall it is well worth the money since it shoots underwater and out just as well unlike some other choices. It's rugged, waterproof and easy to hold and use. Maybe the software will get better with some bitching from the consumers :)

The housing itself works flawlessly
I am not a diver. I purchased this housing solely for capturing stills and video in the surf. So, it was submerged only to a depth of a few feet. I used it several days in the ocean water during my Cape Cod vacation and it kept my iPhone 5 dry as a bone, so in that respect, the housing did exactly what it was purchased for. This housing is well made. I did find one issue to be rather cumbersome though, and that is the fact that in the direct sunlight on the beach and in the surf, it is sometimes nearly impossible to see the iPhone screen. But, that's a shortcoming of the iPhone and not the housing, so I didn't penalize it when deciding on a five-star rating. That issue made it so that I oftentimes could not tell if it was set on video or still, and basically caused me to press incorrect buttons from time-to-time. I'd have to assume that when this housing is used at depth, shielded from the sun's rays, that problem would not be an issue. I also purchased Watershot's yellow buoyant lanyard, and although I never lost my grip on the housing, the lanyard gave me extra confidence that I wouldn't lose my iPhone.

Good choice, worked great.
I like to dive, but am not a huge fan of having a camera on dives. It takes away from the enjoyment of the dive. However, when my daughter was doing her first open water dive, I definitely wanted to capture the experience on film. I looked extensively at underwater cameras and really didn't find any thing I thought would be suitable at depth, and still take good pictures. I decided to use the housing, since my iphone typically takes great pics, and the housing was less expensive than most underwater cameras. It was a good choice, though I admit to being fearful of taking my phone underwater. I was extremely careful with when and where I loaded the phone. Made sure it was set up properly in advance, and was very pleased with the outcome. Pictures were clear, the red filter we also bought, brought out vibrancy in colors, and I really could not have asked for a better outcome.

Solid case. Mediocre photo app.
The case is solid and very protective, and the lens is clear. I've dived with it 6 times, with not a drop of leakage. Easy to install your iphone and close the case. Of course- without a red filter, your images will come out pretty blue- but that's not the case's fault (red filter available $$$) My only complaint is that the 3 button access to your phone is a bit limited. When you use it- you don't use the regular photo app, but rather you download the (free) watershot photo/video app that allows you to control it with the available 3 buttons. It works well enough, although I found the app to have a bit of a delay in photo taking, and it will suck your phone batteries dry in about 3 hours, even with your phone in airplane mode. Bring a phone charger with you on the dive boat if you'll be out all day.

works well
I used this a few times in Okinawa last month and it works perfectly. Just remember to clear your calendar for any upcoming alerts- because there is no way to clear them if they pop up during the dive! That happened on my first dive but once you know that it works great.

So far this case is amazing. No leaks
So far this case is amazing. No leaks. I used it about 50ft of water with my iphone 5s. I got great pictures in low visibility and it is easy to work. Please note that you need to keep your phone from locking in order to use continuously. Downside is that I couldn't get it to change to the video setting for it to record that way.

If you can’t afford a GoPro, this is an okay alternative
It’s okay... it works but my iPhone overheated a couple times when using it. I like the idea but you may be better off getting a GoPro. You know, something that is made for that kind of use. I’d maybe use this for a pool or something g.

Performs
My fiance and I went scuba diving in Honduras, and I was able to capture some amazing photos and videos of dolphins swimming around us over 100ft underwater. A co-worker also borrowed it and captured some great video of his family at a water park. I forgot to download the free app that comes with it, but I was able to lock my phone in video mode and seamlessly record and take photos for a few hours.
