EXACTLY what I was looking for. I bought my first electronic calculator in 1974, a Bowmar MX100. I was incredibly excited. I loved it and it held a very special place in my heart. Last year I managed to find one on ebay and snapped it up. It was not in working condition and its early version rechargeable battery was never going to work again. The charging socket on the calculator was completely custom matching the original charger - that had long since disappeared. Time for a challenge. After cleaning and repairing parts of the circuit board and removing the sticky mess of a battery, it was time to work out how I was going to replace the battery. The original circuit and way the battery was charged was not possible to recreate with today's technology. Besides for ease and compatibility I wanted it to take a USB-C charge cable. I thought I was going to have to design some replacement circuitry to reduce the USB 5V to the roughly 3V that the Bowmar required. Lo and behold I found this. - Ni-MH 3.6V - perfect - 2400mAh - a bit more than the original specs and, again, perfect - To cap it all it came with a little USB charger adapter supplying the necessary 3.6V. - The connector between the batteries and the charger adapter was not going to work, but an easy replacement with a male and female USB-C connector. A pack of USB-C sockets, USB-C plugs and pigtails, some cutting and soldering later and, voilà, the calculator entered its second life.
