Thule Surf Pads

Well-made to help justify Thule's usual high price on their products. I have the 30" wide version which fits the factory crossbars on my Mazda CX-5 somewhat loosely. Fortunately the Velcro takes up most of the slack. I've only used them once so far to carry a 10' recreational kayak and they worked just fine, far better than the pool noodle and duct tape arrangement I tried earlier.

These are great. They fit my crosstrek and vw cross bars. Made it up and down the coast without a problem.

Despite being for SUPs, surfboards, and the like, I used these in a pinch to cushion a sit-on-top kayak on a friend's vehicle w/o a suitable kayak carrier. I used NRS buckle tie down straps and some rope for front/back tie downs, along with these pads, and it worked great. I probably wouldn't take this set up out on the highway for any real duration, but for a 30 minute back road jaunt to a nearby lake, it was fine. It was surely just as secure, if not more so, than throwing it in the back of my pick up.Quality is good. Went on and came off easily. I think these would be great for their intended use. I was definitely happy with them for my "off label" usage. Mainly just wanted a little protection for my plastic recreational kayak.

Without throwing these on my bars, my SUP was getting black marks on it. These are easy, sturdy velcro, a good size for the bars and the board, and easy to just leave in my trunk when I'm not using them. Beats a cut up pool noodle if you aren't looking for a budget solution.

These work great, and fairly easy to put on and take off. The Velcro is super strong, so expect some resistance when taking off, that’s a good thing. But these work great for car topping our inflatable kayak.

I wanted these for there function. But i wanted to leave them on all the time. They were not for me. Maybe round would look better. And 60.00. seems way over priced for what they are made for.
