The author of this book, Rachael Robins, has shown much courage by giving her version of the subject, and she has done a very good job. She explains how her book can help the reader to gain health, wealth happiness and healing, providing you follow the guidelines given in the book. The book tells you what is meant by positive affirmations. It throws light on the different types, what makes them work and what may keep them from working, as well as how to avoid such a situation. Better still the book shows the reader how to use positive affirmations to make them most effective. While the whole book is very good, this is for me, the best part. There is guidance on how many times to use them, the best time for using them as well as the different techniques that can be used to increase effectiveness. Rachael Robins gives the reader a list of positive affirmations for almost every aspect of life. It is a pretty comprehensive list. The book also has several pertinent quotations. Review: Skeptical at first, more than pleased by the end - Let's face it: Books on affirmations come by the ton. But as someone interested in affirmations and their power, I decided to give this one a try because I had literally tapped out my Louise Hay app and it's good to switch things up once in awhile. The first good thing about this book is that it gives a detailed analysis of the kinds of affirmations. Now that I think about it in the context of this book, I can't think of any other that does this. This means that, instead of receiving a bunch of utensils and being told to use them without knowing that spoons are for soup and forks are for salad (most of the time, anyway), this books make it very clear what kinds of affirmations can be directed at which kind of desired outcome. This is great because it enables you to go about the use of affirmations more scientifically. No need to get into the science of affirmations as such because there's lots of that. But what this book provides is the basis by which you can do your own science because you have been given insight into the types and kinds and that will inform your practice. But of course it's up to you to decide whether you're going to use affirmations scientifically or not. You could also just use them for pleasure because they are good in and of themselves even without focusing on the outcomes. Overall Positive Affirmations is well written, gives multiple approaches to using affirmations and it's a helpful book overall. I recommend it.

Skeptical at first, more than pleased by the end

good, But Repeats A Lot
I enjoyed this short book and feel that it gave some valuable tips for creating my own affirmations. However, this could have been done in a blog post….each suggestion was repeated several times in (what felt like) an effort to creat enough content to be a book. That said….if you are looking to create your own affirmations, this can be a valuable guide!

Great book and a must have if you want more control over the positive side of your life!
Over the years I have seen many books on this subject. As a cognitive scientist I understand the power in speaking and thinking, and the resulting power of affirmations. This book goes beyond what one normally expects. Not only are there specific recommendations for affirmations, there is a thorough explanation of how they work, why they work, and what to do if they have not worked for you in the past. I found the tables of classification of various affirmations and thoughts to promote versus thoughts to overcome very insightful. In the reading of this book I actually felt more positive, which was an interesting side benefit. Great book and a must have if you want more control over the positive side of your life!

Elegant Review
This book is a wonderful, easy-to-read, easy-to-understand, easy-to-use, well-organized discussion about a familiar but useful topic-affirmations. The author carefully reminds us that affirmations can be positive and negative. The focus of the book is positive affirmations, what they are and how to effectively use them. Chapter 4 goes into great detail about the productive use of affirmations. Chapter 6 is a great motivational piece that encourages the reader to put affirmations to actual use in one's life. The book is a great piece to add to one's reference library.

Not what I thought it was
Unfortunately not a book full of positive affirmations. It tells you how to create your own which is good, but not as helpful and relaxing to me as reading ones that are already written.

A path to change when done right, but not a quick fix.
This book goes beyond just listing some affirmations for you to use. It teaches you how to write your own affirmations that you can connect with and believe in. There are a lot of ways suggested to use these affirmations to re-enforce their messages in your life. If you don't use them, they won't be able to help! Everything is covered including what could be wrong if you feel they are not working.
