Overall very happy with these boots once I got over the price, which really isn't horrible because they last it's just a lot all at once. Things I like: -very comfortable and break in is quick. - can be resoled and the cost for it from Thorogood is reasonable. I always wear out the soles well before the tops and it feels like a waste to throw em away, but a lot of boots now can't be resoled. - shaft is a single layer of leather, and the collar is not super padded. This is one of my biggest complaints with work boots; I don't like the ankle area to be stiff or 'supportive'. I would say these are like pointe shoe ankle support when broken in although I doubt most men (or women) know what that's like. Basically you're not gonna roll it super easy but it doesn't impede foot flexion and extension -boot shaft fits comfortably under pant legs. I am a string bean and dont like billowing pant legs at work. Most boots are too puffy and make my pant legs bunch up. -width is just right -the hooks for the laces start low, so quick to take on and off -not really criteria in picking work boots BUT these are quite pretty. I got the darker brown I think called horse trail or something? To be aware of: - these aren't waterproof. I use mink oil on em and that makes em waterproof enough for my purposes. - the dye in the leather will stain your socks/legs/pants when they're new Minor complaints: -they don't make size 4 or 4.5 . I am a female with fairly small feet (6-6.5 in women's) and the 5 is still like 3/8-1/2" too long in the toe area. Work boots are generally longer than regular shoes anyway, I know. The 5 will work but that little bit of extra length is just enough to catch and trip over multiple times when you're up and down ladders, stairs and inclines all day. The shaft of the boot can be tightened up easily so the boots stay on well enough, I just trip over things alot. I also happen to know several other petite ladies that work in the trades who have the same issue finding boots, but their feet are smaller than mine so I can't recommend these to them. -the white sole is only white for about 2 hours. -the weird little american flag tab sticking off the outside seems like bad placement and unnecessary. They catch a lot of insulation, sawdust, debris in general throughout the day. I just clipped em off. I get they're proud to be american made and wanna advertise that but the giant american flag box they arrived in does that. Also the flag on the patch on the tongue.

Bought these boots on a reccommendation and also a pretty price on them. I will never buy thorogoods again. My foot was literally bruised on the tops from these. Theyre the correct size, just super hard to break in. Way stiff. Stitching is already giving away on the toes of these and today is the 8 th day i have worn them. Not even 10 days old. I work construction. If you do real work, buy a different pair of boots. Almost 300$ down the toilet. UPDATED WITH VIDEO- bought them july 18,2023. Today is January 31, 2024.
