A good beginning
Year's ago I had my first experiences with Tarot, didn't think much about it then and moved on to other things. Since then I have been married, divorced, lived six-years on both mainland Italy and Sicily; six-years in Japan (Yokosuka, Tokyo, Atsugi); a year in the middle of nowhere (Diego Garcia); As well as throughout the US (including Hawai'i). Periodically I've met and seen people, friends, and lovers using, and/or playing around with various astrologies, Tarot decks, and other such tools all over the world. I've known some who follow the guidance almost to the point of a religion, and those who just bring out their tools at parties and special events (weddings, births, etc.) Always, the explanations were basically the same, these aren't really telling or predicting the future or making and magical suggestions to follow, but rather as a resource, to help individuals to focus their own thoughts, to better help them to consider options and alternatives which the cards might be displaying. Always done with the full knowledge that these are only choices, not actual decisions.Upon reading this book, I began to better understand the history and better relate the psychology involved with the usage of these tools for entertainment and in many cultures as a form of guidance toward making personal decisions. This book, does a very fine job of presenting the very basics ot the Tarot cards. Providing a basic brief history of their origins and usage, and explaing the symbolism of each card enabling a basic foundation for future usage and entertainment. This is a clear and understandable starting point, and if you want to learn more, to become more proficient with your own deck, this is the book to read.Have fun and always be open to learning new things...

good info, concise, clear
this was my first tarot book and it was a good simple introduction to the tarot and card meanings. I liked how to the point it was and it went over all the need to know basics. it also went over numerology meanings for 1-10 which was a nice add on that enhanced the readings. keywords included and a nice description. this was as said in its title for beginners, and is a really good starting point without too much symbology that would make it overwhelming for the beginner.appropriately priced at around $8, the book itself is formatted very simply using a rounded type font. 3.5 stars for aesthetics but at this price i don't mind. 5 stars for the beginner level information.

Insightful Tarot Guide for The Novice and Beyond
This book by Lisa Chamberlain is quite thorough, offering history, explanations of the Major and Minor Arcana, use of the cards by intuition and level of experience, individual card meanings with both upright and reversed, spreads, book ideas, bonding with your deck(s), and the creation and use of sacred space. The meanings offered are clear and concise, without going too far afield and causing confusion or worry for the new reader. This is really helpful for a new reader, as some books go into such great detail and positing of ideas that it can get overwhelming, especially for those just starting out.I did find, (unless I'm losing my mind), that her layout detail of the Celtic Cross spread didn't match the preceding image in the book. There are multiple layouts for the Celtic Cross, but this will invariably confuse the reader, if laying the cards for one or the other in the book.Overall, this is a really good book for novice and intermediate readers.

My first book on reading Tarot cards. very easy to follow!
Being my first step into reading Tarot I have nothing to compare this book to, but I found it very easy to follow, yet very thorough, always with the reminder to follow your own intuition and instinct.

Best Book for Beginners
I learned so much reading this book. I highly recommend this book if you are just starting out on your Tarot reading journey or if you are interested in learning how to read Tarot, but haven’t picked out cards yet! Lisa covers all the basics in this book.

Ahhh to know the future.
So far I’m loving this book. It’s got a vast wealth of information in it, but as other pointed out it does have a few misprints in it. Honestly, I bought it not for the tarot meanings, but for information on tarot itself, so it’s a great companion to my beginner’s tarot deck.

Tarot for beginners
I have read a couple books on beginning tarot. And I liked the way you brought tarot to life. I liked your interpretations of the cards without showing a picture. I have worked with the Waight- Smith (sorry about spelling) deck and have a different deck now. Keep up the good writing.
