Beautiful movie with a great ending
I had no idea this movie was produced by a Christian group until, about midway, I realized there was no sex, drugs, or cursing and I wondered why. It was then that I read the fine print on the box. As a Christian, I generally don't like Christian based movies because the acting is sub par, but I felt that it was done remarkably well in this movie. This is a beautiful, heart wrenching story of a teen who finds out that she was a failed abortion, and her search for meaning (and her birth mother). I laughed, giggled, cried, sobbed, and smiled. It was a roller coaster of emotion and I truly felt for every character in this story. This story is less about political agenda and entirely about forgiveness. I was especially touched that one of the actresses in the movie had a similar real life story and ended up not acting, but pouring her true emotions into her scenes in the movie. The rawness was absolutely beautiful.A male friend of mine liked it so much, he had his teen daughter watch it as well and told me that she loved it also. I highly recommend this movie.

and learn how to love herself. While the story is one of fiction ...
19 year old Hannah, who has been plagued by various health problems, has a gran mal seizure in front of a packed crowd From that point on between doctors' review of her condition and the statement, "I believe they are all connected," unveil something her parents have never told her. First, she is adopted. Second, she was adopted after a failed abortion procedure. Hannah goes on a journey, both physical, emotional, and spiritual, to find out just who she is, who her real mother is, and learn how to love herself. While the story is one of fiction it gains the basis for the story from the real life abortion survivor Gianna Jessen, who after 18 hours of marinating in a saline solution in her mother's womb during a saline abortion, came out alive. Due to lack of oxygen to her brain she has, what she calls "the gift of cerebral palsy." Gianna Jessen even sings one of the songs for the sound track to this movie, Ocean Floor. This movie is well written, well directed, and the part of Hannah superbly played by newcomer Rachel Hendrix, with John Schneider playing Dr. Lawson (her father). John Schneider isn't that much of a surprise, although he does some wonderful things with his character. Rachel Hendrix was a gamble for the Erwin brothers who felt that she just had a special presence on camera and could pull the viewer into the film as she took on the persona of Hannah. Rachel did not disappoint. If anything she gave them even more than they expected. That being the case the story feels real and the impact is strong.

Moving account of a young woman discovering her past...
A pretty college girl named Hannah (Rachel Hendrix) learns unexpectedly that she was adopted, and upon further investigation discovers that her birth mother actually tried to have her aborted. She is naturally horrified and distraught as her life is turned upside down. This film starts off kind of slow, but quickly gets better as she begins to undergo a healing process, eventually even learning the identity of her birth mother. It's a tale of inhumanity and sadness, followed by a very uplifting sense of redemption and love. A well-told story with some really good casting, including John Schneider as her dad.

OK but not great
I am pro-life and I am really glad that someone made a film on this topic. That being said, the film is OK but it's not as good as it could have been. The plot is more than a little contrived and it didn't have to be. The film also decides at one point that just having a pro-life message isn't enough and they also need to teach us about abstinence. My main problem though is that the main family in the film never really felt like a family. They tell their daughter that she was adopted from across the room without hugging her or anything. The daughter seems like a selfish drama queen... oh well. There are some good performances in this film. The woman who played the nurse actually got some tears out of me both because of her performance and the weight of the subject matter. I'm glad I watched it and I hope more people will do the same. That being said, the film could have been much better than it was.

Intense, Raw, Emotional, and Amazing. Grab your tissues!
WOW. Make sure you have your tissues while watching this movie. What raw emotion this brings up. The main girl grows up with some health issues and finds out by accident that she was adopted. And she was adopted because she was born prematurely after her birth mother tried to have her aborted. She then goes on to find out more answers. The main actress is wonderful. The crazy thing is this was inspired by a true story. I have watched this movie several times and cry every time. It makes you think and makes you appreciate your life. Life is a GIFT! Abortion is Murder!

MUST SEE!
I went to one of our local theatres to see October Baby with my wife, and only to be nice to her. I didn't expect anything but a shallow "chick flick" and some popcorn out of this experience. Much to my surprise (however), I not only greatly enjoyed this film and the deeply poignant story it tells, but I ordered it from Amazon so we could show it to friends. Important note: The sniffing and eye-blotting I was doing during the theatre screening of October Baby was (of course) only some allergy symptoms that subsided shortly after we left the theatre. Nothing to worry about. You should buy this movie. It carries a deeply important message for everyone.

amazing
Well worth watching and right to the end of the credits... it is chick-flicky but in all the best possible ways. I loved it and I am not the type for emotional films. I put away all my pre-conceptions about any "messages" and I just really enjoyed it. Very relevant. Made me think.

Surprising story
I was surprised how much I liked the film at the end. Very well acted and a plot that started off slowly, thinking it was going to be one type of film, and then developing through the film into another. Good film.
