This is billed as a universal descaler. I tried it on a dental plate that had a heavy deposit. After 1 hour there was no visible change, however, the deposit had become quite soft and could easily be removed using an old toothbrush. Haven't tried it in a kettle yet, but wonder if you would also have to brush to remove the lime scale?The Amazon listing and the product packaging do not state what the active ingredient of this is (the bottle just says 'inorganic acid'). The Safety datasheet (MSDS) that can be found online gives the main ingredient as sulfamic acid.

Easy to use and done the job

The task to descale the kettle was not a big job...minimum amount of limescale build up to remove to keep the smeg in tip top order.However one bottle of this solution was not enough to complete the task in full.I will look elsewhere in the future at my next attempt.

Really impressed with the treatment liquid which worked very fast.
