Don't Waste Your Money Buying This Tool
Very dissapointed in the Stonfo Thread Splitter. Lately I have been tying flies with dubbed bodies and thought using a thread splitter would make that process easier. I have used this tool on threads with various deniers and both GSP and regular tying thread. Have spun the thread counter clockwise to "flatter" the thread in order to split it and put dubbing in the split. Every technique tried resulted in less than desirable results. The needle would not split the thread in the middle, resulting in a few strands on one side and noticibly more on the other side. I went back to splitting thread using my dubbing needle, This is my 45th year fly tying so I know "a little" about fly tying. In all honesty, I would not waste your money on the Stonfo Thread Splitter. It is a useless tool!

Nice addition to my fly tying bench. Greta for splitting open fine thread to add dubbing. Try there dubbing clips for some added enjoyment while tying flies.

Does not work
Tried on various threads brands that are easy to split. Infrequently will this split thread. Usually the needle slides beside the thread. I do much better with my thumbnail or a bodkin. A waste of money.
