A friend recommended this product as a quick and easy way to scan documents to a computer file folder. I haven't used it yet, but as soon as I arrange electrical connection I will start using it. I appreciate the set up and small footprint on my desk.

HP Scanjet scanners used to be the best. Now something has changed. HP is no longer the best scanner. These scanners are junk. Tech support will not help you. They will ask if you are using windows 11 23H2. If so, you are SOL. If order to get this scanner to work. You must be on windows 11 23 H2. install drivers. Then go to device manager disable the scanjet driver without (USB) in the title of the driver. then rescan for a new driver, then connect to the HP scanject software by clicking the +. You need to do this everytime you turn off the computer or reboot. Sorry that is solution from HP for now.

My ScanSnap Fujitsu scanner finally died, and our IT department recommended this scanner, as it supposedly has a longer longevity than the ScanSnaps. It arrived, setup was easy enough, however this scanner just seems shoddily designed. Our IT tech even told me that they've never received one of these scanners where the buttons on it actually work; you always have to scan via the software. The software itself is awful, and never saves any defaults after the computer restarts. I'm already missing my ScanSnap deeply, and considering returning this for something better.Edit 9/16/2024: I've already initiated a return on this scanner and instead purchased a ScanSnap iX1400 instead. For the price, this HP scanner really is not worth it.

This is a complete waste of money. I thought that with a higher price point and better statys - I would get a decent scanner. This thing scans slower than scanners I used in the early 2000's, has terrible quality/recognition, and the device software is crap. My computer fails to recognize the scanner 1/2 times. Requiring a reboot of everything. Which interrupts my day. And simple, clean pages free of wrinkles etc. get jammed on every scan. DO NOT RECOMMEND

I have 3 scanners and they don't work with windows 11. They worked fine, until we receive a windows update and they stop working. I've been waiting for a fix, but nothing. My advice, don't buy it if you have windows 11.

I like this scanner a lot, once I figured out how to download the software, get the shortcut in the dock, and scan. No helpful on-line instructions, but I researched the how-to's and got it working. If I have some instructions available, I'm good to go, but it works well, so I'm not going to complain. It's fast and efficient. Good scanner for my purposes.

1. You have to download the drivers and client software (not really an issue)2. The setup software will NOT recognize the scanner via a USB (scanner direct to PC) connection. FWIW: I have a brand new high-powered PC running the latest update of Win-113. According to the add-a-device mechanism in their software, the installed driver/firmware and client are all the latest and up-to-date4. According to HP, there are issues running it on Win-11.I got this directly from Amazon. It arrived in 1.5 days in good condition, and the return process was painless, so kudos to Amazon. That said, HP should be ashamed for shipping something they had to know would not work under a common setup.I'm not sure this is unique to HP, as I had both Canon and Fujitsu (ScanSnap) units and none of them would be recognized on a Win-11 box either (both worked fine on my old Win-10 box). Unfortunately, I had no choice to move on from Win-10 (for unrelated reasons).Bottom Line: If you're on Win-11, you will likely have trouble using ANY brand of scanner/software (at least via a direct USB link) for a while (written Jun 15, 2022), so you may want to hold off a bit.
