This book is like a warm cuddle from a patient and understanding personal trainer.
First, this book is in excellent condition. It was published in 1993 and is the size of a trade paperback. The ink drawings are clear and support the text, and the stretches and exercises are doable for those who are mobility impaired and out of shape (me). The instructions focus on gently getting started and how to gradually improve, which is damn hard to find in a book. Most go from โhow to startโ to โkeep it up! Youโll feel greatโ which does not consider the uncertainty, frustration, and the tendency to overdo things resulting in injuries (again me). There are chapters on tracking your progress and pros and cons of different exercises (ex. swimming and biking) but I havenโt read them yet as Iโve been busy testing the stretches and saying โHey, I can do thatโ! I recommend this book to everyone who are tired of hurting, tired of being stiff, tired of having no stamina, tired of having no strength, and tired of being tired. Itโs September now, and next spring - gardening!

Love this book
Why? Has both pictures and description of movements and most important for me was that these exercises were suitable for people whose arthritis was quite severe and had not exercised as much as they should have-like mum mum! So we were able to select the right exercises for her and there were a number of different exercises for hands, legs, back, hips, hands, shoulders....this is sooo much better than some of the DVDs where the people demonstrating the exercises did to have arthritis or to severe at all. This is a great book to work with loved ones or for yourself, very gentle and effective.

Excellent info for arthritis sufferers
A somewhat older book, but the info in it is still relevant. I have had hand arthritis for 30 yrs (am in early 60's), and many of the exercises were the same as what my hand therapist did for me. I also do Pilates, and many of the stretches done in that class are also presented here. The explanations are very clear, as well as the illustrations. Am happy with my purchase!
