Remedios Varo: The Mexican Years Hardcover – October 31, 2012

Big longtime fan of Remedios Varo, and my interest was triggered by a recent show of her friend Leonora Carrington. This is a great book with lots of clear large reproductions and a decent bio. I also appreciate the stain resistant cover, great for dragging around the studio.

I recently discovered Remedios Varo, and this book is exactly the best companion to learn about her life from someone who has studied her work and history; and a wonderfully curated collection of print reproductions of her work... all in one place! I hope to one day see her work in person, but this is really wonderful and will certainly suffice until then.Also, this is a small thing, but I appreciate it a lot: it's a nicely sized book but doesn't feel heavy like some other art books do. I feel like they really considered paper weight and binding materials to make this a physically accessible book without compromising on the scale and quality of the print. Treat yourself to a copy of this, she's a talented, thoughtful artist who deserves a more visible place in surrealist history! :)

I knew about Remedios Varo and love her art. I was an art history professor. When asked for a surrealist art book, I chose this because I knew she’d be a new discovery for the recipient. She loved it.

Well done with a chronology in back that I found very helpful. Lots of great images of Varos' paintings included .An excellent synopsis of her life.

It was my dream for many years to find a book of Remedios! I am so happy!

I teach art, and my middle schoolers love Surrealism. It's nice to recognize that it's not all about Dali and not all Surrealists are men. Varo's imagery is haunting yet familiar, and I'm sorry that I discovered her work so late.
