Chinese Mahjong Set, "Little MJ"

These are teeny tiny tiles but thick with some weight. No harder to handle than regular size tiles. The whole face of the tile is nicely engraved and painted so that they are easy to distinguish or read from a distance. The rack is cheapy but it works. This will easily fit in a suitcase or purse. It's a really impressive travel set and the tiles are very well made. Its a case that's about the length of a domino's case but not as thick. There are trays for tiles which stack on top of each other. Everything fits inside case nicely and it snaps shut securely. Came with dice. Easy to carry.

Great set appreciate the little racks to hold tiles. Chunky tiles are also helpful when playing because of the small travel size. Weighty and readability are also helpful in this quality compact set.

Great play right out of the box! Yes, the tiles are small - making it easier to travel with - but the tiles are very clearly readable. For those who may be wondering, this set does not include: scoring cards, a mat, scoring coins, or pushers.

Great for a game anywhere - on a plane, at a cafe, or on your patio on a little bistro table. Almost too cute to use! Well made and small racks to keep tiles in place.

I bought these 'small' size tiles to play Riichi Mahjong because I wanted the brighter colors on the faces (so many riichi sets have very dark colors) and I did not want the Riichi-specific tiles because I did not want the fake gems embedded in the tiles. And I don't think I need red fives. So, these are great. The 'small' size is about 30mm, which is awesome. All the symbols are clean and clear and bright and they feel great in the hand. I don't think the supplied case (vinyl over some type of card board?) would hold up to much use so I have a custom bag for my set, but I knew I would do that when I ordered, so no big deal.

It is a good size and weight for travel, but the tiles do eventually get dirty and the images / numbers are not super clear. Not sure if it can be cleaned. Still, we take it on trips and it accomplishes what we need.

Clearly mass produced, but still a mahjong set of satisfactory quality and pleasing aesthetics. Definitely worth it at the advertised price. The case is noticeably cheap and seems like it may fall apart one day, but the tiles themselves seem durable. The particular variant I purchased (Chinese mahjong, small tiles) is the closest match in size and feel to the much older Chinese mahjong sets I have used in the past. I use it for playing Japanese Riichi mahjong- you just have to remove the flower and season tiles. Whether you buy this set for Japanese Riichi mahjong or Chinese mahjong, you'll have a good experience, and learning is a piece of cake with the many available online resources. It is really quite beautiful if used with the Yellow Mountain Imports mahjong table mat, and some generic wooden mahjong tile racks.

Mit diesem wunderschönem und hochwertigem Mahjong Spiel wird jeder Spieleabend zum absoluten Highlight. Geliefert wird das Spiel in einem Karton, welcher sich mit seinen kompakten Abmessungen von ca. 30cm x 23,5cm x 12,5cm hervorragend als Geschenk eignet, um jemandem mit etwas kleinem und äußerst hochwertigem eine große Freude zu bereiten. Verarbeitet ist das Spiel sehr hochwertig. Zum einen befinden sich die Spielsteine, wie auch die Würfel und der Windanzeiger in einem schicken und sehr gut verarbeiteten Tragekoffer aus Kunstleder. Und zum anderen fällt der Koffer mit seinen Abmessungen von ca. 24cm x 17cm x 6cm angenehm kompakt aus, sodass er problemlos in jedem Rucksack oder der Umhängetasche seinen Platz findet wenn er mit zu den Eltern oder zu Besuch genommen wird. Ebenso nimmt er auf dem Tisch nicht all zu viel Raum ein und praktischerweise befindet sich auf der Oberseite ein Tragegriff. Mit ihm kann er bequem an Ort und Stelle transportiert werden denn mit einem Gesamtgewicht von ca. 3Kg ist er dennoch relativ schwer. Die einzelnen Spielsteine bestehen aus bruchfestem Kunststoff der auf Hochglanz poliert wurde. Dadurch fühlen sich die Steine nicht nur toll an, sondern sie rutschen auch nicht so leicht aus den Fingern bzw gleiten sie sanft über die darunter liegende Tischdecke. Zudem sieht das Mahjong Set mit seiner Dunkelroten Färbung des Koffer, wie auch der Grün/Weißen Lackierung der Steine und in Kombination mit den traditionellen chinesischen Symbolen einfach umwerfend schön aus. Wodurch es sich mühelos harmonisch auf jeden Tisch einfügt und der absolute Hingucker ist wenn es verwendet wird.
