Awesome Series but This One Is Not Our Fav
I read these books to my 7 and 9 year old girls before they go to bed. One daughter can just about read them by herself. The other daughter reads at an 8th grade level. Both my daughters love them despite their different reading levels, and I am definitely not bored either! The writing is SUPER; It moves quickly, is super interesting, and shows a wonderful friendship between a boy and a girl. Also, the illustrator should win an award for realistically drawing children, showing different expressions/emotions really well, and for changing the perspectives in his drawings. He is an amazing illustrator! The Adventures in Flatfrost is our least favorite of all the books, but it is still good, just not great like the others. We just wish is was more of an adventure like the rest of the books. It is a tad boring and could have taken more interesting plot twists and turns. It is still worth reading, though!

Perfect for kids who are too young for Harry Potter
My 5 year old loves this series! We read through one every few days and then buy the next. She loves Clara and Lucas' adventures, which each take place in a different part of an imaginary world called Wrenly. She is an emergent reader and is almost ready to read these on her own, but we enjoy reading them together and taking turns reading sentences. The best part about these books is that something always happens in the first chapter, so for impatient young readers there is not a lot of build up before the adventure begins. This keeps my daughter interested. There are also pictures on every page, so this has helped us transition from picture books to chapter books. We will probably start reading Harry Potter in another year or two, but I want her to be able to read at least some of it herself and she hasn't built up to completely text-based chapter books. This is a great transition!

Great book series! We bought 10 of them so far.
My 4 year old loves this series! They have a nice large print that I appreciate and pictures on each page to keep her interested. It could be for an older child but mine seems to enjoy them and always asks to read longer with them.

My son fell in love with the book and so far it is the ...
I was having trouble finding books my son would want to read. He was 8 when I found these and a little behind in his reading. I wanted something that would be interesting enough to keep him engaged. As far as the story line goes, I would not rate it very high but I'm not the one reading it so that doesn't really matter. My son fell in love with the book and so far it is the only series that he wants to read and enjoys reading. If your child enjoys adventure and a little mystery then they will love these books too.

Wonderful starter series for children.
This is a wonderful starter series for children. The story is about a boy, his friend who is a girl, and a pet dragon. Each book focuses on one adventure that they take. My son was captivated by the story and the pictures. He loved reading these and did not want to stop. The plot is fairly linear (which is good for a child who is starting chapter books), but not boring. The words difficulty is appropriate for a child who is starting chapter books. Highly recommended. We wish there were more of these.

This is a perfect series for 7-11 year old girls
This is a perfect series for 7-11 year old girls. My 8 year old daughter LOVED this series! She likes fantasy, fairy, dragon books so this really helped edge her into chapter books without being a BIG, scary chapter book. Our neighbor's 11 year old daughter borrowed it and loved it too. Its a bit below grade level for 11, but it was more a pleasure read for her and she enjoyed not working too hard. The pictures really helped with the visualization of the world for my daughter.

My 9 year old is totally binging this series. I had to tell her only one book a week because she adores them and can finish one in a day now.
