The Cokin P154 Filter is a high-performance grey neutral density filter designed for the Cokin P-Series filter holder. It effectively reduces exposure across the entire image area by 3 stops, allowing photographers to exercise creative control over shutter speed and aperture. Made from durable C39 optical resin, this filter ensures clarity and precision in every shot.

Good filter for occasional use.
This is my first attempt using a ND filter or creative reasons. I was looking for a way to drag my shutter during time-lapse projects in the daylight, and also as a means to smooth waves during the day. I tried it out recently in Cancun, and had mixed results, through no fault of the filter itself. For time-lapse projects, it works well, even in bright sunlight. I can get my shutter down to 0.6 sec at f/22 and iso 100. This is sufficient to blur action, even in bright sunlight. However, I was unable to get the smoothing effect I wanted on the surf shortly after sunrise. I could get the shutter down to about .25 secs. It did blur, but not enough to smooth. The nice thing about the Cokin BP400A77 P Series 77mm Filter Holder is the ability to stack 3 filters in the holder. I would like to order at least 2 more of these ND filters and stack them. This will give much more control with the shutter speed. I did observe a bit of color shift to magenta in SOME images. I may have had my polarizing filter on too, which may have caused this. The filter can pick up lint and dust easily, so have a microfiber cloth available to keep it clean.

It works as advertised.
I took a test shot of a crape myrtle into the sun and posted it to show that it doesn't seem to change the colors, only darken them. I wish I had bought a larger size, even though I have all the accessories for the Cokin P series filters. I often carry just the filters rather than the filters, holders and step-up rings and simply hold the filter in front of the lens. This usually works fine with the graduated neutral density filters, since they are rectangular. This one is square so it's a little difficult keeping your fingers out of the shot, especially if using a wide-angle lens and a lens hood.

small price tag for a reason
The filter does it job but take extra care with it...its plastic... cheap plastic at that. But you get what you pay for...ND filters can be really expensive and those expensive ones are glass and therefore much more durable. But still need care when used so if you take the time to care properly for your filters these Cokin cheap plastic ones will work just fine...and are so cheap when it does become too scratched/damaged to use and you have to buy another you are still less $$ invested than if you bought a expensive but much better quality (durable) Lee filter... for example. But in hind sight I have decided that I would rather pony up the $$$ to just get a high quality filter that if cared for properly will last and not need to be replaced due to normal use...ie sliding it into and out of the holder scratched/scuffed this Cokin filter...

Very nice glass filters
My experience with plastic ND filters is that some of them tint the picture. I guess that is possible with glass filters as well. I am excited to get these filters.

Good buy
Does what it is supposed to do. You may find some faint tint in some cases to creep into pictures. That's why I gave it 4 stars.

Sure beats buying individual filters for each lens
I use this filter for all my lens. I got tired of buying one for each lens I had. I just hold it in front of whatever lens I'm using at the time. It lets me use smaller aperatures for a better depth of field.

Good addition to my filter set
Like my other Cokin filters, it works well when I need it. No noticable color cast - to my eye anyway. Compliments my other Cokin filters. Recommended.

Eh
Maybe, it's me, but it's not exactly the filter I was looking for when I picked it out. Kind of cheap. But, not entirely a waste of my money.

Cast Away
With all the 'horror stories' and past-experience with cheaper alternatives, I wondered how this would handle the ND 'issue' of a colour cast - and was pleasantly surprised when there doesn't appear to be one.It would've been five star (since I got it a day early) but I expected the plastic case with it to be like the rest on my Cokin filters - and it is a polyurethane cover instead. Additionally, there doesn't seem to be the problems I've had before with dust.

As you'd expect!
The filter does exactly what you would expect from its description! I have the Cokin P filter holder and graduated ND kit to which this is a good addition. I have used this particular filter for taking a slower shutter speed image of moving water and was very pleased with the results. I am a keen amateur photographer and as such can't afford / justify buying glass filters such as the Lee brand which I am certain would provide better quality. I do have some concern that they may scratch or mark, but I am particularly careful with all my lenses and filters so hope they will producegood quality images for a long time.

Great system with a huge options & great value
The Cokin system is a very good value system if you are starting out with getting creative with your DSLR. I have a set of blue graduated filters and and natural graduated filters as well and the square ones like these. These work well in various situations and I have found them very good. Obviously the LEE SYSTEM is the one to own but it is a large investment so if you don't want the high cost then the Cokin P series is a very good cheaper alternative.

Not neutral
Decent quality plastic filter but it does cast a magenta tint to the images. Does fit the cheaper holders and adapter rings that you can buy for cheap on amazon, so i just got this from Cokin and used the cheapo holder and adapters. Fits all my lenses so much cheaper than buying three different sized screw in filters.
