I learned a great deal just by reading the introduction to this book ...
I learned a great deal just by reading the introduction to this book and was drawn deeply in from there. It is based on the idea that Jesus spent many years in India, and that to understand his teachings one must also understand yogic philosophy. The style is typical of Abbott George’s other writings, sometimes conversational and sometimes didactic, embroidered with references to scripture, movies, poetry, other spiritual discourses and even advertising. Yet there is a depth to The Gospel of St. Thomas that moves the reader, as the author says, “forward in consciousness.” The text is scholarly yet accessible, bringing this recently discovered gospel into the context of modern times while firmly grounding it in its own historical roots. The chapters are quite short, each based on one or two sayings, making them ideal for daily study and contemplation or suitable as material for group discussion. This book can be read once or twice for its rich factual content, or many times for the spiritual challenges it raises within the reader's own mind and heart, which is what Jesus really intended. If I could change one thing about this book, it would only be to include more commas.

Wery good
think the book is good and instructive but it lacks humility this swami is clearly very knowledgeable but he lacks humility he should, in my opinion, write - this is my interpretation of what Jesus might have meant by these words ..that is my impression of swamis in general that they are intellectual and think they know everything ..they lack humility enough to say this is my understanding and opinion my subjective understanding of this or that ..to know what Jesus might have meant one had to Ask jesu himself

I waited 60 years to embrace Christianity and this book made it happen.
Everytime I read another book written by Abbot George Burke, I think, "This is the most important book I have ever read" and then I finished this one! I had read the translation of the Gospel of Thomas before, but had no where near the understanding of the words of Jesus until I read this. Abbot Burke's unique understanding from his vast study of both Christianity and the origins of the Eastern traditions are brought together here to bring me a gift of "knowing" beyond my wildest dreams. For all seekers of The Truth.

This book is both a revelation and inspiration; as well as an excellent commentary and reference...
Having been an avid reader and student of all the streams of spiritual cultivation, Abbot George Burke's commentary is one of the most succinct and clarifying explanations on a subject that is easily confused by most because of the subject nature of the evolutionary process involved in learning, understanding and believing; for me this book was that synchronous experience that tied together a number of gaps intuitively felt with the standard western approach to Jesus's teachings as well as to a number of other tomes of wisdom from other cultures and traditions that actually confirm much of what is expressed and shared within "The Gospel of Thomas for Awakening" this book is now an important addition to my personal library that I'll drawn upon and study into perpetuity...

It may blow your mind
The best book other than the Bible, The Bhagavad Gita and the Tao Te Ching I`ve read on religion. Swami Nirmalananda Giri speaks with authority like Christ, And backs up what he says with verses from the Bible and other sources. I love his strength of conviction .I`ve only read two of his books so far. But I`m hoping to read more. And hope you will give it a look as well. Love it, or hate it, It will leave you with a deep impression.

Yogis and Christians - a book to further understanding
Excellent book written by a very knowledgeable monk versed in the heart of seeking the true self in terms of a yogi-Christian. The Abbot helps us to see they are one and the same through Jesus's teachings.

Loved the book
Loved the book. Learned about the life of Jesus in a different way from Western Christianity and what we are taught in the Bible. Just added another dimension to my way of thinking.
