great products for the price
work as hoped easy to connect and solder and work exactley as hoped used in a sim button control box and work perfectly

Excellent rotary encoders
I use these as a digital volume control with my raspberry pi media streamers. Work well.

This is a rotary quadrature encoder with a separate push button switch.
A quadrature encoder is an incremental encoder with 2 out-of-phase output channels used in many general automation applications where sensing the direction of movement is required. Each channel provides a specific number of equally spaced pulses per revolution (PPR) and the direction of motion is detected by the phase relationship of one channel leading or trailing the other channel. The item description could be clearer as some have assumed that this item will output, as stated in the description gray codes. This is incorrect this item outputs two out of phase channels.

Fantastic cheap option
Replaced an unserviceable part in my LiPo charger, which meant I could once again use both sides of my charger! Only needed the one but means I have another in case the other side does the same thing! Very happy that for the small cost of the encoders and an hour of my time my £200 charger is fully functional! Time will tell how long it lasts but it's working now and that's all that I'm concerned about 🙂

Performs well
I bought this to use in an ESP32 project, to work with a 64x128 display to develop a menu system. The code was relatively easy to develop, and there are loads of examples out there. Very pleased with end result. The push switch is a little clunky and takes effort to push though, so may not be ideal for use in thin panels. Certainly worth looking at, given the price.

If you are lucky, they work. I am just not lucky. Poor information provided.
After spending two evenings on trying to make it work, I have no success. I am still not sure though is that the device fault or me not wiring it properly. There lot of people saying that these are working and you just have to find more information. Nobody actualy gives that information. Impossible to find datasheet either. So please, anyone who got them to work, describe more detailed how you did it. Thanks.

Very nice encoders
I bought these because I needed some rotary encoders for a button box project (AMStudio has an fantastic instructional video on YT you need to check out if you want to build a button box). They work perfectly and look really good too. I bought them mainly because I like the style of the aluminium knobs.

Not usable
As somebody else has said, these are not usable as rotary encoders. The push-button switch seems fine, but there is a massive problem with rotary part. Instead of a standard Gray code (that's Gray the person, not grey the colour), the A & B outputs briefly pulse before going back to the previous state. Usually. You should get 00 - click - 01 - click - 11 etc. but the outputs will give "something" as the switch goes click and then revert back. I took one apart (a distructive process) and I think the encoder must be misaligned. One I would accept as bad luck, but the fault is across all of them. I used test equipment to confirm this. So basically, they're useless unless you want a strange spinning push button. I'm outside the returns window so I have to console myself with the fact that at least I can use the knobs when I get some switches that work from somewhere else.
