Exactly what I ordered

It works as intended
This part does the job it is meant to, but is very difficult to install. To get it into the front seal I had to file it so that there is tapered edge around the forward end of the pipe.

Great cost saver!!!
Pipe install was straight forward thanks to the YouTube video and paper instructions. Would recommend to anyone that can turn a wrench and suffering the dreaded coolant pipe of death!!

Good product!
Alittle tricky to install but did the job. Packed parts could have been better.

Works well
I waited one year before I wrote a review on this pipe.I have a e70 x5 (4.8) with the n62 engine, and it was leaking coolant from the front weep hole really badly last year. I decided to use this pipe instead of the AGA one because this one was a lot cheaper. The install wasnt too hard. Taking off the intake, water pump etc took a while. The only hard part about the install was fitting the seal to the front of the engine. That took me some "fingering" for and hour or two before I could do it. Apparently, you just fit it in with a bit of it bulging up the middle. And then you use something round, like a socket extension thing to push/roll that bulge in. Afterwards, make sure to feel the seal to make sure it is fully seated, you can do this by rolling the extension tool all around the seal. Make sure to use some grease, as it will help you.The written instructions were not very clear, so I referenced the online video, and the AGA video.I was taking the intake off again 2 days ago to replace the valve cover gasket for the oil leak. i checked the valley pan area, and it was completely dry. So it seems to have held up super well for two years.Aside from the kit, I recommend you replace the valley pan, water pump, thermostat, belts, and a "T coolant hose" (see broken hose in photo) while you are doing the expansion pipe, as they normally fail at the time you do the pipe. And make sure to replace necessary seals and bolts after you take them out. I broke a bolt that holds down the valley pan, so change that too.Good luck.

Way less than the Bimmer pipe and works perfect!!
As many BMW owners with the N62 v8 engine have already or soon will learn that they have a metal coolant pipe that goes through the center of the engine. It has a rubber seal on the timing cover side that fails and leaks water through a tiny weep hole to the left of the water pump. The only way to access it it to remove the intake manifold, upper water cover, valve covers, timing covers, and oil pan. That is a 30 hour job. Well now it has been made much simpler and only have to remove the intake manifold and the upper coolant cover and install the collapsable pipe. There are several styles out there and all do the same job but the Bimmer pipe will end up costing you about $800.00 with the gaskets and seals. Where as this one even when you add the needed gaskets and seals still only comes up to about $350.00 so it is a huge difference. I am a master BMW technician and have been since 1987 so been around the block a few times with BMW and I can honestly say that this pipe is very well engineered and should provide many years of service. It was very easy to install in comparison to the old way of doing it. I would for sure recommend this as the most cost effective quality repair.
