A SummerTime Decision Happily Made
I confess that I actually pre-ordered the kindlebook The Seven Types of Spirit Guide: How To Connect And Communicate With Your Cosmic Helpers by Yamille Yemoonyah on July 14, 2020 via Amazon with a combination of money made (from my most recent university employment, department of labor where I was residing at that time, and from my current job/place of employment etc.) . This kindlebook covers the author's spiritual and mystical journey as someone who was adopted into a loving home by a German couple when she was very young. The author recalls what it was like for her to grow up in Germany and how she felt and what she experienced upon her visit to the United States. I too was lucky to be adopted and I admit that it is refreshing to read about other authors who describe their adoption journey, I only knew about the author being adopted after viewing the kindlebook, my intent is far from sympathy reasons (especially since I am lucky to have heard it directly and truthfully from my late maternal grandmother herself by 2012/2013 why she voluntarily gave me up for adoption when I was around 7) rather I am just admitting the author's story of drawing from a combination of her adoption experience and spirituality helps my spirit understand how another person can rise/transcend their past into a more resilient spirituality. The author shares some quotes from some authors who have inspired her and she also shares details on a spirit guide quiz to help a person determine which of the cosmic helpers are working with them right now (my quiz results netted the results of star beings and ascended masters though each reader is obviously going to differ depending on their lifestyle), the author touches upon sections pertaining to deities, ancestors, ascended masters, nature spirits, animal guides, star beings, and angels. Additionally, the author gives helpful ideas on the multiple ways that a person's spirit guide may try to build andor increase communication with a person for instance through intuition andor sleeptime dreams, the author explains why it is ok to communicate with spirit guides for help in manifesting certain dreams, the author's section on miracles, and more.

This is a no from me
I was very excited to read this book, based on Yamiles story about her spirit guide meeting at the beginning, but it honestly went downhill from there. There is so much ego in this book, and it is heavily influenced by the beliefs of the author. For instance, the first guides she talks about are Deity's, and she tells you they can help you have confidence in yourself, and become more of a leader (which makes sense and is good advice so far) but then she goes on to explain that they demand to be worshipped, can possess you, and can cause you to become a megalomaniac with the desire to "live forever" if your not careful. 😲 This is most definitely not my experience. I have been assisted by a few Deitys in the past, and not once have they demanded to be worshipped, or tried to possess me, and I certainly don't have a burning desire to live forever. She then goes on to talk about the next guide, Ancestors, and how they can assist us in understanding and working through our family issues and things that may have originated in our ancestral line. (She calls this "The Pod.")With the Ancestors she talks about the positive things, and then talks about how our ancestors want us to keep our line "pure" and then talks about the "bad spirits" such as rapists and murderers etc. in our family line, and how we have contracted ourselves into dealing with the issues and bad karma from them out of the graciousness of our hearts.....Umm no. That is not what happens. First of all, we have all lived many lifetimes, and not all of those have been good. If we have karma coming up from ancestors its not coming up simply because its part of your ancestral line. Its coming up because you are that ancestor in a previous life. We don't pay other peoples Karma. We pay our own karma even if we don't remember living that lifetime.Secondly, and most importantly, Yamile has a very puritanical view on spirituality, ancestors and our connection with our guides. She thinks we should only be connecting with guides of our family and cultural line. She believes that we can learn from other cultures and their spiritual traditions, but she proclaims MANY times in the book how we need to be careful of cultural appropriation.....umm I don't know about others, but in my experience with guides and spirits they do not care about cultural appropriation. They see us all as One.I have had Native American guides tell me to follow their practices at times, and I am not Native American. I have been helped by Egyptian Gods more than once, and drawn to Egyptian symbols, images, music sounds etc. And I am not Egyptian. I have A Hindi God and a Lyran man that have been with me for a while now just helping to bring comfort into my life, and I am not Hindi or Lyran, and yet they still came to me and decided to help me and be a part of my life even though I didn't ask them to. Why? Because we are all connected. There is no such thing as cultural appropriation from spirits perspective because we are not separate. It is very much a low vibrational belief to think that we are separate and need to continue to be separate based on culture. That is a fear based belief, and doesn't fly with my soul at all.I have even had parts of my soul from other lifetimes come through and tell me "I'm not a part of you, I am you." When I was talking about a particular lifetime I've had.Nobody. Not one of us has been incarnated in one cultural line only. Every single one of us has incarnated in different cultures throughout our existence. We have learned so much from those experiences. We wouldn't be who we are today without them, and all the good, bad and ugly things we did and went through. So, if you are drawn to other cultures and their spiritual traditions then its probably because it feels like home. Its natural to you because you have lived it in at least one previous lifetime. My advice is to honor that and honor your soul, because you know what is right for you. Your soul will pull you towards what is in your highest and best interests, and the highest and best good of all. 💜

The different kinds of spirit guides
The different kinds of spirit guides, including angels, a person can have are explored. Of course, everyone has a guardian angel , a chief guide in life and several lesser guides, or as I have read in other books. our ancestors, or relatives we have known in this life, also can be guides, and often are. so can friends who have passed away. This author failed to point this out. However, he also describes ceremonies a person can enact to encourage contact with our angel and guides. An interesting book.

Excellent book for beginners
I am currently using this book as our book of the month for my spiritual book club here in Ohio. It's a great book for beginners and I love that she included an easy quiz for people to figure out which type they work with naturally. My clients love this book and I recommend it all of the time.

Great Book about Spirit Guides!
I was fortunate to do a course/workshop by Yamile where she taught us about Spirit Guides. Quite some time after I was delighted to hear that she had a book out because from the course, I really couldn't think of anyone better to share their knowledge with the world.I purchased this book when it popped through in meditation one day! It was fantastic to refresh my knowledge and I was able to learn some new things. This book is perfect for beginners who want to learn about the different spirit guides, how to connect with their own as well as those who want to expand their knowledge a bit. Yamile brings a fresh take to the world of guides!

Great, but....
I was really enjoying this book, mainly because of the very refreshing balance around cultural interpretations of this topic and raising awareness of cultural appropriation. So it was with a huge amount of shock when I came across the words "Once craziness is eliminated..." in Part III when the author is differentiating between mental health disorders where psychosis features and spiritual experiences. As a mental health professional, I was appalled to see this stigmatising language in a major publishing company such as Hay House. I'm not sure who edited this, but I do hope that future editions will rectify this as it is a great book.

5star doesn't do it justice! FABULOUS
What a fantastic read, this book spoke to me instantly. I've got a practical library from lots of hayhouse, but this is a wonderful different look at something so many have spoken about. It spoke to me on a different level more of a personal level, I was able to dip in and out like a reference book as well as read it cover to cover, and taking advice from the author I was able to connect the same night I got the book. Id highly recommended it, a modern look at something we all hold inside us!
