Great for yard mosquito mix and protecting wood
PROS: Great smelling cedar oil. I use it for protecting wood furniture and to make mosquito/tick yard spray. Hose end sprayer concentrate mix: 2oz cedar oil, 1oz peppermint oil, 29oz water. Hose end sprayer: 8oz of this concentrate mix in hose end sprayer fill rest with water. Pump sprayer: Same concentrate amount in a 1 gallon reused dish soap bottle. Yard smells great, and it kills/repels fleas, ticks, mosquitos, spiders. I used a red battery powered chemical sprayer bottle attachment by Craftsman, I purchased for about $9 here on Amazon. 4AA batteries included, about 1 hour of continuous use. CONS: This cedar oil is too expensive on Amazon. I found it at my local Home Depot for $27. Note: Be sure to let yard dry before allowing pets & kids to enter. Cedar oil is supposed to be pet safe in the mix amount used but I’d rather play it safe. From what I’ve experienced, will not kill grass or greenery. However, I would not use it on vegetables or anything you plan on eating. Will not stain concrete or house siding. Great for spraying on wood fence. I spray once per day for 3 days until mosquitos are under control. Then once per month after that. Ok I’m done. Good luck!

Refreshed a cedar closet
Pricey but worth it to refresh a closet lined with cedar strips. I weave with wool and have a cedar-lined closet dedicated to the wool I use. After 22 years, I found a moth in it. So, I used the product to rub in on all the planks. After 2 months, I can still seem a light cedar odor when I open it. I’ll know how well it works after another 9 months, but so far, so good.

Give it time
I almost gave this product a two star review. I've been a wood worker since Junior High and love cedar, so when I opened this bottle I was a little put off and very confused. I didn't smell bad per say, but it didn't smell like cedar. It had a strong earthy tone with barely a hint of cedar. I was really disappointed. I love the smell of cedar and this wasn't it. I decided to try some out and rubbed it on a 4" x 4" area of a scrap pine board and let it sit. The next day the rag still smelled, well, not of cedar and the board was still a earthy as well. Today, the rag still smelled the same but the pine board smelled exactly like cedar! My wife was laughing at me because I kept sniffing the pine board over and over :) I honestly don't know if the directions say to apply and give it a day or two because - full disclosure - I didn't read beyond what materials it was safe to apply it to, but I found when applied to wood, after a day or so, it definitely has that wonderful cedar smell. Very happy :)

To the window, to the wall
Hey there Stranger, Pandemic Life got you stressed TFO? Try this soothing, calm and centering Scent! Life could be falling apart, but you’ll be zen-ed out smelling this in your closet. Bonus no moths. The package arrived open (surely not the sellers fault but I’m mentioning it as part of the overall Amazon experience; but alas! I’ll continue..) To my shock and dismay I had to break out my tool box to get the cap off this thang. (Thanks for the tool box I thought I didn’t want mom. I DO use it all the time. I bet you bought it on Amazon. Moms are usually right. Ugh off topic, interrupting myself again..) I’ve never been great at opening jars but I must admit this was ridiculous. It was on tight! I put this ish on EVERY wood surface I could think of in my flat. I’m talking door frames, to the kitchen cart, to the wood stick thing that blocks the window gap. If I were more clever and less tired I’d have tried to rephrase that last sentence in some sort of “to the window! to the wall!” rhymey type of fashion. I put it every- you get the point. I stopped at my wooden spoons. You got to draw the line somewhere. I can’t decide if my place smells like a freshly cleaned critter cage or a luxury spa. Gerbil, hamster, plush towels, stolen hotel robe, hot ass sauna. That’s what this smell is to me. If you know, you know. Either way I LOVE this scent. I’ve purchased a few other cedar oils that just didn’t do it for me. There’s a lot more to cedar oil than I know. Recently I read something about red vrs white cedar oils smelling completely different. That’s beyond my grasp of cedar, I just know I LOVE THIS.

Don’t expect the scent to come from your can!
I have read reviews of weak scent or does not smell like cedar or fades away fast. Oil your cedar wood several times over a month then forget about it & when you get remotely near it the smell is amazing. I did an old dried out serdar chest & didn’t think it would be worth the expense but I’m telling you it was so worth the time & expense I bought a second can & the chest is still amazing. The only regret I have is I didn’t do it sooner as it was for my husband who passed away the day I had it ready to move into the bedroom for him to enjoy.

Cedar oil worked well
The can was old and starting to rust. Product seems good.

The place I purchased made have had a few moths that blended well with the wall cover. I've NEVER had problems with moth eaten fabric before so it was a shock to see mohair shawl with a fist size hole in it. Also my Harris tweed jacket and slacks that go with look tike a sieve in places. So I used this to freshen up the cedar I recently got and alo a bit on strips of cloth the repel the moths. It has a light pleasant scent too.

Giles & Kendall Cedar Oil, 8oz. I'm embarrassed to admit that I had to google how to open the damn can. Eventually I stabbed it with a screwdriver, but if you have an old-timey can opener like they have on a Swiss army knife that would work. The scent of the oil is more musty than nice, and after you first apply it it's quite strong but fades after a while. I used it full strength on the plywood shelves in my closet for moth control, and that turned out to be a big mistake. I had to wipe the shelves with hot water several times to remove excess, and still I have extra oil crystalizing out of the wood, looking like some kind of moldy, whitish-clear growth on the wood, and it's oily/greasy to the touch. So that was my fault, but hopefully you will learn from my mistake. Dilute it with something, I don't know what.

Small can but powerful stuff. Use sparingly. Smells great and helps to rejuvenate the cedar scent.
