Will this work with the FT 891 and a gamer headset?

Yes as long as the microphone on the headset is a dynamic or condenser type I use a KOSS SB-45 Headset with the FT-891, FT-991A, and this adapter.

Is there a separate adapter for ptt or is this for voc only?

The 1/8" plug is microphone and the 1/4" plug is for an external PTT switch. You plug the headphone jack from. Your headset directly into the radio. If you choose, the mic line is always active, so you can use VOX without a PTT switch. I am using a foot switch with mine. Works just fine.

works for yaesu ft 8800?

It is not listed by Heil to fit that radio.

Will this unit work with FT-991a?

Sorry don't know enough about FT991A. It works fine in my FT857D which as a data type connection not a screw type

I have standardized on Radiohead set for all of my radios and simply use the appropriate adapter cable to connect them on.Heil Brand products are the Cadillac of radio accessories
