The second Manfred Mann studio album, released in November 1965, followed a string of hits for the band including 5-4-3-2-1, Do Wah Diddy Diddy and If You Gotta Go, Go Now. Recorded at Abbey Road with John Burgess and Norman (Hurricane) Smith, the album features the, by now, distinctive keyboard sounds of Manfred Mannn, Mike Hugg's vibraphone and drumming, Mike Vickers' inventive sax and flute, Tom McGuinness' bass and Paul Jones' vocals and harmonica. Newly remastered, with new sleeve notes written by Tom McGuinness. This reissue is fully approved by the band.

Mono, no stereo
The Five Faces of Manfred Mann reissue had both mono and stereo versions. Why they didn't do that for this reissue is a wonder. Mann Made Hits also in mono only. Don't know what the big deal was, but stereo versions should have been added like with the first reissue.

Wonderful addition to my Manfred Mann records.

One of Manfred Mann's top albums
Manfred Mann's first two albums are both very good, although they are very different. The first one "Five Faces Of Manfred Mann" is a blues album. The second one "Mann Made" is more soulful. My favourite songs are "Hi Lili Hi Lo", "You Don't Know Me", "Since I Don't Have You" and "The Way You Do Things You Do". These are all cover versions, but they are the best versions I know (maybe apart from Ray Charles' version of You Don't Know Me). I also like "Look Away" and "Watch Your Steps". Of the originals I think "L.S.D." is a good blues song. I love groups from the 1960's and I love especially The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Animals, The Hollies, Them (f. Van Morrison), The Searchers and Manfred Mann. The EMI CD remastering of "Mann Made" is very sharp and clear. Buy it if you are a fan of the 1960's.

マンフレッドマンが作ったアルバム
マンフレッドマンのセカンドアルバム。前作から1年ほど間隔を開けて発表されたアルバムだとか。このアルバムの特徴としては、前作はポールジョーンズ一人やポールジョーンズとマンフレッドマンとの共作の自作曲しかなかったのにくらべ、このアルバムにはマイクヴィッカーズやマイクハグ、トムマッギネスの自作曲も入っているということか(リーダーのマンフレッドマン一人の自作曲はないようだ)このアルバムでもマイクヴィッカーズの木管、マイクハグのヴィブラフォンはクールに且つ、印象的に鳴り響く感じである。さらにトムマッギネスが書いたアルバム裏のライナーが、なんともおもしろくて仕方ない(対訳もあるので是非とも読んで欲しい)ボーナストラックはマイクヴィッカーズが脱退してトムマッギネスがギタリストに復帰、そしてジャックブルースがベーシストとして加入し、さらにホーンセクション専門のメンバー、リンドブスンとヘンリーロウザーを従えて作られた全編インストカバーEPのInstrumental Asylum収録曲などが入っている。このインストカバーがとてつもなく素晴らし過ぎてマンフレッドマンに完璧に惚れ込んでしまった。

EMI/HMVでの最後のオリジナル・アルバム
｢Look Away｣｢Watch Your Step｣(両曲ともスペンサー・デイヴィス・グループもカヴァーしている)｢Stormy MondayBlues｣(ゼムもカヴァーしている)｢Hi Lili, Hi Lo｣(アラン・プライス・セットもカヴァーしている)｢Poison Ivy｣(ストーンズもカヴァーしている)といった定番曲、｢You're For Me｣｢The Abominable Snowmann｣といったマイク・ヴィッカーズらしさが出たジャジーなオリジナル曲が含まれている。ジャック・ブルースがベースを弾いていると思われる未発表曲の｢Come Home Baby｣も興味深い。マンフレッド・マンのUKセカンド・アルバムに同時期の米盤LP収録曲等を加えたお得なCD。1st同様ブラック・フィーリング満載の好盤だが、比較するとポール・ジョーンズやトム・マクギネスのR&B派よりもマイク・ヴィッカーズやマイク・ハグのJazz派の特色がより強調された様に感じる。アルバム発表後、当時イギリス最高のマルチ・プレイヤーと言われたマイク・ヴィッカーズが脱退。トム・マクギネスがギターに回り、ジャック・ブルース(b)が加入した。その後ポール・ジョーンズ(vo)も脱退し、レコード会社を移籍するが、HMVからは編集盤が何枚か発売された。
