These are classics like the Lincoln logs. This set is great lots of options. Just a great toy.

Great blocks but the paint has put spots on my laminate flooring.
Paint fades onto floor if my child gets them damp.

More than one can participate in this log set.
Well made, all parts fit well.

Ahhh, these are more like it!
Having done childhood in the 40s when "Lincoln Logs" were sold in big enough sets to do something with, fit together well and didn't come with a chemical smell that raised all your instincts to throw them out (let alone the worry about what the Chinese used to stain the wood for export to us), I found this set, made in Maine. From their website, it sounds like the company was started by a couple who felt the same as I do, and it's mentioned these are stained with a food-safe coloring. They look just like the ones I had, you can make way more than just the structure pictured on the box because they didn't skimp on pieces or sizes, and I'm not terrified they'll poison my grandchildren. If they do leave reddish stain traces on fingers or their storage bag or carpeting (mine didn't), I'd just put down a sheet. The storage bag they come in is old fashioned burlap and I like that about them too. A real winner.

Good value, lots of pieces, well mfr'd.
I'd get it again. Lots of pieces & a good diversity of them. One downcheck: the roofslats aren't sized to fit nicely on the rooting pieces. you put slats up one side of the roof, and then the slats on the other side extend maybe 1/8" past the 1st-side slats. Worse yet, the chimney is meant to be down the side of the roof (away from the peak,) and I don't see how it can be kept in place. If you can get past the rootslats' excessive overlap at the peak, and the peculiar chimney, it's a great set.BTW, not discussed in the write-up (but visible in the picture): the set includes a number of pieces (the smaller 1-notchers and 2-notchers) that are red and others are yellow. Having grown up with just brown, I don't see it as a huge feature, but it is a noteworthy feature nonetheless.

Too many different lengths of logs
This has a lot of parts that are differently sized. It makes it difficult for young children to line up the logs. For example, there must be 4 different lengths of the logs -- some of them very close in size. I wish I'd known that -- I wanted a log type (i.e., round logs) with just a couple of different lengths product so that husband (who also had trouble with the varying sizes of logs) could play with grandson. Neither of them "got" it, and I was the only one with a presentable cabin. Better for an older child, perhaps.

fun
i am giving four stars instead of five, because some of the pieces aren't a perfect interlocking fit, and it doesn't seem that there are enough green stained pieces to cover the red roof pieces on the log cabin and barn styles.I have to keep the stained red and green pieces away from babies who put things in their mouths, because the colors will bleed when wet.The blocks do build sturdy structures, and my kids and I have had fun building the styles shown in the picture, as well as our own creations.I am soooo happy to find something fun, that is made in the U.S.

Roy Top kits
My niece is 5 and she loves to build stuff, started with her first set of Lincoln logs, but the kit was too small and they want way to much for them. So later I find out that the Lincoln logs are made in China! so when I was looking to get her something, I found these. The Roy Toy made in the USA and appear to be just as good if not better than current Lincoln log products. She loves them and she keeps them all sorted and ready to play. I would recommend them, cost less and made here in the USA. Oh and your don't have to worry about what they were died with or made from that could harm your kids.
