Hood Seal, for Beetle 61-77, Super 71-72, Compatible with Dune Buggy

For its intended purpose

For the most part the seal was very easy to install on my 72 Super Beetle. The three little nipples at the back corners of the hood towards the windshield takes some patience to get seated but I got it.

This is a budget item. It fit snug, took a while to install since the plugs are very short. Nothing a little fishing line looped through the whole couldn't fix. Took 3 days to install, one day for each plug on either side otherwise they all would pop out if tried to install all at once. After one plug on each side was installed I left it alone and the next day the rubber would keep its shape and so installing the next plug wouldn't make the other come out. If you don't want to go through the hassle of that, buy a more expensive piece. Otherwise this works just fine

I wrestled this on the trunk of my VW and it works but where the corners are the seal should have plugs that you pull through to hold the corners. Sorry but what they have are nubs that in no way are long enough to fit into the holes they should fit. Long story short I had to seal the corners with a sealer to fix the gap that the lack of plugs would have solved. It works but look for one that has the longer plugs needed to instal easily.

I have not installed it yet but the quality of the item looks the same or better than original.

The 3 tabs on either side are shorter than stock. This makes installation very tricky. I think it should work pretty nicely.
