French Sentence Builders – A Lexicogrammar approach: Beginner to pre-intermediate Paperback

I am HoD at an all boys' grammar school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Our boys have always enjoyed languages and uptake is good at both GCSE and A level.Last year, we bought the French and Spanish sentence builders books and made the decision to redesign our Yr 8 & 9 KS3 curriculum using your book as the foundation. Huge success and thank goodness we did it! It just works for our boys - they have responded really well and love the combination of the sentence builders and the activities to practise them. The confidence they have when speaking, writing, reading and listening in the language is impressive. The book itself has been an absolute lifesaver during the long months of distance learning: the constant recycling of material; the differentiated exercises; the scaffolding to help them succeed - it really has supported all our boys, from the less able to the most able. I could not recommend it highly enough. Thank you!

The French Sentence Builders is a great resource for any teaching approach. It is packed with activities such as vocabulary building exercises, narrow reading texts, translations, writing tasks and even grammar units. It can be a great source of printable material for your face-to-face or online- lessons. The Spanish Sentence Builders book was a success with some of my classes during lockdown and I am sure this one will be as useful. Both books come with a solutions booklet which you can photocopy and distribute for self-marking. It is a fun way to learn, packed with high-frequency structures and vocabulary, truly useful not just for academic purposes but for real life communication. A Conti must-have.

Having been a follower of Gianfranco Conti’s language teaching methods for a long while, I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this book. And I was delighted! Jam packed with great materials suitable for language learners yr6-8 this will be my go to resources to supplement his methodology in my classroom.It isn’t full of unnecessary pictures and design distractions but is clear and accessible.A perfect compliment to his Language Gym site and support for language learners to develop genuine proficiency in French.

Excellent resource. We use Gianfranco's techniques, which have greatly improved pupil enthusiasm for both French and German. These books support and enhance our teaching. The texts are accessible and the tasks allow pupils of all abilities to progress and build their language skills.

Great resource for French teachers, at a very reasonable price. Combine it with the listening booklet and you're away! If you haven't adopted Conti's method, it remains an excellent guide with ideas of exercises, and lots of worksheets learners can complete independently with the help of the sentence builders provided, so ideal for cover.
