An Excellent Film (not documentary) About an Amazing Woman
SPOILER ALERT: This is a truly excellent film, and I wish that we could do more films like this in the U.S. It is scripted, acted and edited well. You do get to see a few photos and a brief clip of Christina Noble and her family (and some of the children) at the end of the film, but it is not a documentary as one reviewer seemed to think. Also, the children portrayed are not the children left behind by U.S. soldiers as another reviewer suggested. It is possible that some of "her" kids were grandchildren of Americans -- the Vietnam war had been over for quite some time when she arrived there. The effects of agent orange on the children were not direct exposure but the genetic effects passed on by those who had been exposed. That said, Noble's drive and accomplishments are amazing. The fact that she retained such a strong faith despite her own childhood and early adulthood hardships it itself is incredible, and she is a laudable woman. She also appears to have suffered the common Irish Catholic experience of enforced adoption as already well covered in the movies "The Magdalene Sisters," and "Philomena." This is a woman who experienced many losses and came out of them determined rather than bitter. A must-see film!

Heart of gold, will of steel!
What a noble woman! I was a flight attendant taking troops into and out of Vietnam during that horrible war. She saw the painful residue of that war and did something not many others would have dreamed of, let alone accomplish! She is my hero!

Noble life; dauntless persevernce
Outstanding film! Very inspirational. Disturbing scenes are thankfully alluded to, not graphically depicted. None the less, some of the traumatic content would be troubling to an older teen (>15) with a sensitive spirit.Though Christina Noble survives many traumatic experiences in both childhood and young adulthood, she doesn't become bitter or reject her Catholic faith, which she has ample cause to do. Instead, she wrestles with it. This is by no means an overtly Christian film, clear by some of her young adult choices. It is, however, refreshing in this present post-modern culture to view a film where one's faith and the wrestling with it are as naturally integrated into the plot as it is in one's life. Additionally, any one of these trials could shape one for a lifetime of victim mentality. She chooses differently. With fighting-Irish courage she springboards from these past horrors to compassionately, boldly and relentlessly advocate on behalf of the defenseless and vulnerable.

Not your average biopic
That one woman could be the catalyst for so much positive change in the lives of not just hundreds, not just thousands, but hundreds of thousands of children--innocent victims of every kind of misfortune--is both mind-boggling and awe-inspiring. That she had such deep compassion for others despite the neglect and abuse she herself suffered as a child and young adult is astounding. And that she continued to trust in a God whose alleged servants failed her so miserably is a profound and moving example of faith. The three actors who portrayed Christine Noble at different stages of her life are all incredibly gifted, which was a surprising bonus--I really wasn't expecting performances of the caliber each of them delivered. The restraint shown in the editing was also wonderful, as was the careful attention to period detail in the sets. This is an exceptional production about a truly phenomenal person.

An excellent inspirational movie whose historical account needs to be told
Liked that it is based on a true story that shows how the Lord honored her persistence in the face of much and realistic hardship . Her true life story has such historical value of Poverty in slums , trafficing and abuse of children - as such it is not for children under 15 or 16 to me. But it is of character value to show persistence, heart , compassion, grit and kindness " illustrates the truth of the Scripture verse admonishing and encouraging us all in James " This is true and undefiled religion in the sight of God - to visit orphans and widows in distress and to keep one unstained by the world. " ,, Not Cheesy , preachy , or unrealistic and but even more inspirational in that. Worth while watching . College students should watch this as they make life choices... and adults at any age. ...

Determined To Make A Difference
A powerful story, and a woman with a never ending will to overcome any obstacle. Have you ever noticed that some of the most amazing people, who achieve more than most could ever dream, have lives that caused them terrible pain and hardships, and wonder how they even got past that to go on and not only change their lives, but the lives of so many in their orbit. Christina Noble seems to be one of those people, a woman with a strong faith in God (who has no problem giving him a piece of her mind), and a determination to see her dreams a reality. I have never heard of her before I ran across this movie, and couldn't help but watch after reading what the story was about. I love films like this. I find it fascinating how the world presents us with people like this, who rise out of the ashes of their life, and out from them comes a light that is so bright, and so good, there is no ignoring them. They have a purpose in this world, and I think that the hardships, pain, failures, and life's terrible moments help shape those who have that inner light to understand, empathize, and love all they come in contact with. There's no denying a woman like her, she won't be ignored, she won't be stopped unless you put her down for good. Life has made her the strong woman she became, even when the men she loved tried to destroy her. This is a great film, about a woman who gave the world all she had. And who can't love a woman who's only desire is to ease the suffering of children, and give them a better world? Well worth watching.

A very inspiring real life story
Living in Holland I had never heard of Christina Noble. Watching this film I was impressed by her strength and resilliance, both when she was a very young child and when she grew up.The filming in Vietnam is gripping and the actresses playing Christina in different age groups are wonderful.I only wish Brendan Coyle had a larger part, as he always is very true to the parts he plays.Worthwhile feel good movie!

I finally got to watch it a couple of weeks ago and did enjoy it, although I would have liked to see ...
after reading both of Christina's books many years ago, I was very excited when I heard that a film was being made. I finally got to watch it a couple of weeks ago and did enjoy it, although I would have liked to see a little more detail. Having said that, I did enjoy the film and found it very moving, just as I did, the books. Having read the books before seeing the film, I was aware of things missing in the film.

Unbelievable film
I didn't know what I was in for but this film based on a true story of poverty and street children in Vietnam is simply brilliant. It's amazing what one Irish woman can do whose faith in God is hanging by the most slender of threads.Very powerful.
