A complete guide to electric vehicle design, operation, and adoption This hands-on resource thoroughly explains the technologies and techniques involved in the design and operation of todayโs electric vehicles. Originally written for use in a course co-taught by the authors at Stanford University, Electric Vehicle Engineering discusses the physics of vehicle motion; the electrical principles on which motors rely; the chemistry, operation, and charging of lithium-ion batteries; the design and operation of motor controllers; the energy efficiency and environmental impact of electric vehicles; and the policy and economics affecting their adoption. After teaching you the theory, the authors will guide you through a hands-on project in which you will build a model electric car from the ground up with a hand-wound electric motor of your own design. Coverage includes: Introduction to electric vehicles Electric vehicle history Vehicle dynamics Electric motors Lithium-ion batteries Controllers Well-to-wheels energy and emissions analysis Electric vehicle policies and economics Future prospects Review: Its an excellent Book , however , What i need is a book on how to repair - This book is very good and does what it says on the tin , but for me it wasn't what I needed Review: Good book that covers the basics - This is a good introductory book to EV engineering. I'd put it at the freshman to sophomore college level. Covers a lot of the basic physics relationships for how EVs operate. Authors are also very clear and offer good experienced insight which makes it an easy read. From that perspective it's a very good book. However, if you're looking for something a bit more advanced or highly detailed in a particular area this probably isn't going to be your first choice.

Great book
Seriously great book, all critical points have been discussed. But skipped few things when understanding the laws

Really for engineering students
I am a certified experienced automotive tech with 47 years in the trade. I wanted an updated electric hybrid technology book with latest developments in our field . When I read the few pages, though the book I saw a lot of formulas and sketches of first designed vehicle of propulsion vehicles from very early years and descriptions of their benefits and flaws. There was nothing in there describing new battery technology or new types of induction motors and how they worked and repair details. I returned book same day

Far Too Basic
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone with an engineering degree. Especially electrical engineers. The topics covered are far too basic and could be inferred/derived by most with a decent bachelor's degree.
