Magic City: Seasons 1&2 [Blu-ray]

....Oh, well. At least Jeffery Dean Morgan has expressed interest in a two-hour feature (like the Deadwood movie, which "tied up" things for fans of that unjustly cancelled series). Here's hoping.A superb and complex series with great writing and some spectacular acting. I was surprised that several times i thought "oh, no" in response to events. Danny Huston was absolutely terrific as the psychotic Mafioso in Miami. His chief henchmen (played by Michael Rispoli) is equally and believable scary as the guy who just takes orders and does what the boss says. It is a great story of Ike as he is squeezed from all sides as he tries to disentangle himself from the mob while he is struggling with 2 adult sons who go in very different personal directions. I am very sad it was canceled and hope that the planned movie goes ahead and revives the series somewhere. I encourage people to give this show a shot - The (minor) loose ends are small potatoes compared to the many hours of entertainment.Like Mad Men, this does an excellent job at integrating historical events and people to the story.And the female cast? Spectacular beauties, all.

Personal use. As I said, great 3 dimensional characters and thrilling screenplay.

We binge-watched this series on loan from the library and just had to buy the Blue-Ray full series box. Problem is, after 2 seasons there is so much of both history and the stories of these characters left untold - couldn't they at least have made a movie to tie up the loose ends if they couldn't come up with another season?

If you like mob movies, the 50's era. All those fabulous cars!!! Cuba used to be a happening place for the rich; Vegas was happening with great celebrity entertainment and getting into the gambling business etc. etc. etc.The acting was good. The directing was good, just loved it and couldn't wait to watch the next one. I binge-watched it all, well in two evenings.

Miami in 1959 must've really been something to see. As recreated here with great attention to detail and historical accuracy, it's filled with beautifully dressed women, handsome if often untrustworthy gents, hot cars and gorgeous tropical settings. The performances are all first-rate, and the plot has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. My only disappointment was that it was only two seasons.

this show was on Starz. I have been waiting for it to come back, it did but it is in such poor viewing that you cant watch it on Starz through my cable company anyway so I just bought the set! love the show!

I bought two complete season 1 & 2 DVDs of Magic City. Both sets were returned and a replacement set had what looks to be a manufacturing defect in season 1, disk 2. See attached pictures. This disk will not load in a player. The defect was the same in all three sets.Amazon was very good at replacing the defective set. The other store was not, so canceled and my money was returned. The problem was the third set, the replacement set contained the same defect as the other two.

Little unhappy with the endings of Season 2. Was not that it was badly written or poorly performed, I just did not like the choices made by the producers, writers and directors. So while it was good in all other aspects, I just cannot give 5 stars when I did not like the ending (or the fact that it ended clearly anticipating a season 3 which did not happen).

I was thrilled to get a copy of this great show for such a great price. It arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Yes the writing of the show has its wonky moments but visually, the show is never ending eye candy! Plus one of the creepies villains EVER!!

I bought this Region 1 box set because it has English subtitles, unlike the Region 2 box set which doesn't.This set is also about half an hour longer than the Region 2 box set.However at the time of writing this review the Region 2 version is cheaper by a few pounds, but the prices may vary at different times.I found the series very entertaining---good story lines, plenty of action, a fair bit of sex, nudity and hard violence, and the actors performed well and were believable in the most part.The central character played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan holds everything together, a fine turn from an actor I knew very little about before this series.Sad that only two seasons were made just as season 2 was getting into its stride.

Its such a huge shame Magic City only lasted for 2 seasons. Each episode is crammed full of incredible performances, intricately researched and well written scripts and gorgeous decadent visuals and scenery. The violence is extreme and brutal, the sexuality (and frequent nudity) is seductive and incredibly sexy. And all of this set against the most cool and calming backdrop of an ultra stylish 1950s Miami... Do yourself a favour and check it out, you won't regret it!

Really loved how it was Season 1 and 2 together, can’t wait to re-watch it!
