UGREEN 6Gbps 2.5 Inch Hard Drive Enclosure, USB C 3.1 External HDD Case

I bought this UGREEN enclosure to repurpose an old SSD and it's been brilliant. Setting it up was simple, just popped the drive in, closed the case and then plugged it into my laptop via USB-C. It worked straightaway without any drivers or software to install. My Mac recognised it immediately as a usable drive. Transfer speeds have been great. I haven't noticed any slowness when transferring large files, everything feels smooth. The build quality feels solid and reliable, at a very good price. It’s compact and lightweight, which makes it perfect for putting in a bag without adding extra bulk. Highly recommend if you're looking for a hard drive enclosure.

This has been a great upgrade from my old microUSB 3.0 hard drive caddy. The caddy is easy to open as it's held closed by tension instead of screwed shut. The hard drive fits firmly in place, and the USB C connectivity leads to faster transfer speeds.The USB C to USB C cable has increased its functionality as now I can connect it directly to my phone and tablet, as well as my laptop now.Conclusion: The build quality and transfer speed make this easily worth the £16.99 price.

I bought this to replace a cheap caddy from eBay as I wanted a USB-C one instead (modern is better, right?)Suffice to say, I'm really impressed. Some reviews mentioned slow performance, and one mentioned difficulty seating an MX500 SSD into it, but I have had no issues.I am using a Crucial MX500 500GB SSD with this caddy. It was simple to install. The foam either side of the caddy makes the fitment really tight - it holds the drive steady so it doesn't rattle around. It did make the install a little bit awkward, and to remove the drive you have to somehow push it back very hard whilst lifting the back up slightly as there are two catches at the back. However, it is still simple to get in and out.I'd like to address the complaint of "slow transfer speeds". I am extremely happy with the performance of this device. I've been moving Steam games today and it was moving at over 300MB/s to start with, and has settled around 250MB/s, which I am really pleased with. I have also run CrystalDiskMark against the drive in the caddy and attached the results as a photo. Unfortunately I don't have a report of native SATA speeds but the read/write speeds in the caddy are more than adequate!The caddy itself is very lightweight as it's made of plastic, but it doesn't feel brittle or fragile. It's not bulky, but is slightly larger than some alternatives.I have only been using it for a day so will update if anything changes, but so far I'm really glad I got it. Definitely an improvement over the cheapo one I was using before.

Very easy to use, works well on MacOS. It’s a SATA enclosure, so as fast as can be expected. Cable is actually quite nice. Feels a bit light and plasticky (because it is) but strong enough for what it needs to be.

Needing more space to store photos and music files, rather than cluttering up my PC’s hard-drive, I decided to buy a couple of 500gb 2.5” drives. The only question then was how to link them to my PC without needing to use an extra power lead.I settled on this Ugreen case on the basis of reviews as well as factoring in ease of use and price.It proved to be an excellent choice, even if the name Ugreen was new to me. Within five minutes of opening the box I was already sending photo files to the first drive: it was that easy. The orange tag at the end of the casing is to help slide it open. Having done that, it takes seconds to slide the drive into place and replace the lid.The only slight problem was that the lead supplied has a USB-C plug at each end. Fortunately I had a few spare USB-C leads with the usual full size USB plug at the other end. As it happened, I tried using the supplied lead with both my tablet and my phone and in both cases it connected immediately. So not the disaster it could have been - more of a bonus!I’m delighted with the two cases I bought and as long as the cable ‘problem’ doesn’t deter you, I would wholeheartedly recommend this device, both for ease of use and price.

I had an old SSD which I wanted to re-purpose for backup. The enclosure has a very simple design so it was a matter of seconds to get the drive installed and working. You even get a short but thick USB-C cable. The enclosure is made of plastic and not ventilated. It is fine for my purposes, but you might be better with a metal one for high performance applications.

My laptop main board is gone. This enclosure helped me to recover my data from my 2.5 hard drive by using USB-C from another PC. All the partitions in this hard drive is shown as multiple drives in another PC. Works great! Portable and easy to use. Great value.

Buscaba una carcasa que fuera totalmente estable para dejarla conectada 24/7 al router y usarla como servidor de archivos (NAS) sencillo, y la verdad es que esta de UGREEN ha superado mis expectativas.Muchos otros adaptadores que he probado se desconectan al entrar en reposo o dan errores de lectura cuando el router intenta montar la unidad, pero esta carcasa va fina desde el primer momento. La he conectado al puerto USB de mi router y la reconoce instantáneamente, permitiéndome acceder a mis archivos desde cualquier dispositivo de la casa sin complicaciones.Lo mejor para este uso:Estabilidad: La conexión es sólida y no me ha dado ni un solo error de montaje hasta ahora, incluso dejando el disco encendido todo el día.Plug & Play: Es conectar y listo. Si tu router tiene soporte para gestión de discos vía USB, no vas a tener ningún problema con esta caja.Diseño: Es compacta, no se calienta en exceso y, al no tener tornillos, si algún día necesito sacar el disco para otra cosa, tardo literalmente cinco segundos.Un consejo técnico: Si la vas a usar para lo mismo que yo (como NAS conectado al router), os recomiendo aseguraros de que el disco que metáis dentro sea un SSD si queréis que el acceso a los archivos sea fluido y no tarde en "despertar" al entrar al router.En resumen: Si estás buscando una forma económica de tener tus archivos accesibles en red sin gastarte un dineral en un NAS dedicado, esta carcasa combinada con un SSD/HDD viejo es la solución perfecta. Por el precio que tiene, no le puedo pedir más. Producto 10/10.

Great item for my small hdd. Working great in Linux Mint, Apple and Win.

Poor performance, slower than an usb-a to SATA 3.0 cable. Half the performance on random memory access. Performance are ok as advertised if you're moving large chunks of data, but extremely poor when reading/writing small data (which matters if you're gaming from the disk or even OS operation).

Il supporto UASP si nota soprattutto con gli SSD, dove le prestazioni sono molto buone.La qualità costruttiva è ottima: il case è solido, ben rifinito e trasmette la sensazione di un prodotto destinato a durare. Anche il cavo in dotazione è di buona fattura.Nel complesso è un accessorio praticamente perfetto per trasformare un SSD o un HDD da 2,5" in un'unità esterna veloce e affidabile. Lo ricomprerei senza alcun dubbio.
