This lathers really well, allowing for a good shave. My only problem is the scent just isn't for me. It is much too strong for me, and one that I don't find pleasing. Other than that, it is a really good shaving soap. Definitely try it out, though. It lasts longer than other soaps I've used, and I really like the lather. I think I will try a different scent from Sir Hare, though. Maybe I can find one that works for me.FYI, the scent is the only reason I didn't mark this higher. Again, give it a try. The scent may work for you. Just don't buy five cans before you give it a try. =D

No luck with this (yet)
I find this shaving soap very intriguing. I love its particular fragrance, however every time I use it I struggle to develop a usable lather. My shaving experiences with this soap have not been so great. I'll go back to it occasionally to tinker with the water, or I'll use a bowl lather, then a hand lather, and etc, but I haven't hit on the right formula to connive it into a decent lather - I just don't get it. Also, the puck's consistency is rather strange - almost like plaster, and my badger brush has a hard time getting 'purchase' into the puck, so uptake into the brush is rather a chore despite different water combinations. I don't have the patience to tinker around at 5 am on chemistry experiments - my other menagerie of shave soaps are much more intuitive and/or forgiving (eg Proraso and Rustic are much easier to use), so these days this tin has been sitting unused. I'll keep trying whenever I find the time. Not expecting much out of it at this point.

Shave Shave
I have used Sir Hare products as my first choice when I started to shave the old fashion way. I used the barber shop soap and I fell for it. I actually wish I could get a cologne of the product or something close to that scent. The Bay Rum has a good starting scent I will try to follow up on my review, three months from now.But besides that the product is very good and would recommend it to any beginners.

Nice soap, but can't get the thick lather like they show in the pictures.
The soap smells nice and works pretty well. My safety razor moves through it well without clogging. I deducted one star because I simply cannot get it to lather up like they show in the pictures. It's more like a thin foamy soap. I use a pretty decent 100% badger silver tip shave brush, so I'm simply not sure if it's just my brush or that's just as thick as the lather gets. It's certainly not as thick as the stuff that comes in cans.

Lathers up fine, but I must be missing something in the fragrance department. Has a very faint medicinal soapy smell and that's about it. I thought maybe my nose fell off when I wasn't looking, so I had my wife smell it. She shrugged and said "Smells like soap." My wife and I completely agree on something, so I can die now, I've done it all.

Great Quality Soap with an Amazing Smell
I chose this particular soap because it wasn't too expensive and I was curious about the "Bay Rum" fragrance. Although a little risky, it actually smells really nice and lasts quite a bit. I find it to be a nice break from the plethora of vanilla and mint scented soaps out there. The soap lathers nicely and is not overly thick. The sticker portraying the artwork/ingredients seems to be resistant to water, which is nice because I admire the logo/design. I actually keep the soap on my counter as I find it to be a nice display piece as well as a great soap.I highly recommend this to anyone looking to try a new soap and I will definitely be trying out more products by Sir Hare in the future.

... this soap while still in the tin is not good. In fact it's kinda gross
The smell of this soap while still in the tin is not good. In fact it's kinda gross. However once it is lathered it is FANTASTIC. spicey with a subtle floral background. Definitely masculine. As for the performance, it took a few tries to dial it in but once I did - WOW! The scent stays with you for hours and could pose a problem if you are planning to use an aftershave.

Pretty good stuff
Pretty good stuff! A full four ounces of a hard soap, should last a long time. The scent is great (I ordered Drunken Sailor, which is a bay rum), and doesn't last long after the shave- which I like, because I spend good money on aftershave to be able to smell that after the shave. Lathers well, a nice, robust, slick lather. Very easy to load and lather for a hard soap. I'll be a return customer!Great packaging too- lots of character, catches the attention, and has a waterproof label, so it'll look great for the life of the soap.
