Works GREAT, Easy to install.
Great, I just hooked up 2 TV’s. I live in the South Suburbs of CHICAGO 45 miles away and that is where TV Antennas are Broadcasting . I bought one of those indoor ones that looks like a wi-fi router and another one that looks like a speaker on the wall they are ok, I scanned auto program 2x the channels than my indoor ones. I was able to scan 133 channels with this new one and channels that used to Buffer like Channel 2CBS and 32 Fox, they haven’t buffered once . I been watching golf on CBS 2, for 20 minutes.

Cut that cable with this awesome HD alternative!
In my quest to save a little money, I thought why not drop my cable? Or at least reduce my cable bill by getting rid of channels I can get for free over the air. Ok, now that I had a plan and a goal to achieve, I set out on a quest to find an HD antenna that would suit my needs. The quest was not that long or epic, thankfully it was pretty easy. I did a few quick searches and found 1byone, a company that makes many different HD antenna solutions. I felt I was sure to find the device I needed from them, and I was right. I purchased the 1byone Shiny Antenna super thin version from Amazon. After reading the reviews and looking over the features, I was very impressed and excited to get it home and set it up. The setup process was pretty easy and straightforward. You plug the antenna into the tv's antenna input, go to "my setting" and scan for channels. The first time I did this I was a little disappointed, I had only got 28 channels. After carefully reading the instructions and putting my tech mind to work I thought hmm I should have placed the antenna in a window facing the great outdoors, walls and other objects can block signal so let's bypass this stuff. I did another scan and got 58 channels. Wow I did not know there was so many local HD and non HD channels free over the air. To my surprise, I did not have to use the supplied amplifier and the window I placed it near was less than 20 feet from my main tv. I get mostly all the channels I could want for my needs. Here in my area, I am lucky enough to be within 50 miles of Philly where the broadcast tower is located. You can find out how close your local broadcast tower is by doing a quick google search. I am extremely satisfied and blown away how good this antenna works and the HD quality you get from your local broadcast. I definitely recommend the 1byone Shinny HD Antenna, however before you cancel or cut your cable subscription, purchase this product and test it out. Its very inexpensive for what entertainment it can provide. I know some people who connected the antenna to their child's tv for local kids shows, this was a good idea it eliminates the need to rent another cable box. Also, your performance will vary depending on a number of factors: what's available in your area, your desired entertainment needs as well as objects that may be blocking the HD signal. For the money, this is a great device to test out your HD local broadcast and ultimately save you some money.

IT WORKS IN MANHATTAN!!!...TAKE THE CHANCE...IT'S WORTH IT!!!
SO I live in Manhattan, NO-EA-HA (north east Harlem) is my neighborhood and I pay way, Way, WAY TOO much for cable and had been looking for a way to "cut the cord" with Time Warner" so to say and for some reason just didn't believe that this thing would work. Problem number one is all the tall buildings around (I live in a Brownstone) and don't have a direct line of sight to the World Trade Center also all my windows face east west, SO I have no south facing window...bummer, BUT I said I would try it anyway, I had already reduced my bill by getting rid of the modem and getting my own ($8.00 a month saved it'll pay for itself in 16 months, I could have gone with a cheaper modem but trying to get ready for what's coming next). So everything showed up the other day and after watching a YouTube video or two I was ready, it was a very easy set-up and after re-readying my TV manual (my HDTV is 9 years old I was a little worried it wouldn't work with it) I was ready to go, I hit the scan button and a message came up tell me it could take up to 50 minutes, so I fixed myself a drink and waited after about 5 minutes there was nothing and I said to myself "I guess I'll be sending this back" I then went into my office to do something and when I came back about 5 minutes later I had 55 channels, talk about Shocked the entire process took about 15 minutes with a total of 60 channels...SO here are a few problem I have, a few of the stations don't come in well, the signal is a little weak and the pictures freezes up and buffers... the one thing that was surprising was that I got ALMOST all of the local channels CBS, NBC, WOR, FOX, WPIX, PBS, just to name a few of the locals and the pictures are nice, Sharp, Crisp just like if I was watching cable I was SHOCKED!! BUT my BIGGEST PROBLEM OF ALL is NO ABC!! I watch ABC everyday, the main station I wanted and nothing...not a drop of a signal, my heart was broken I'm going to be STUCK with Time Warner until I can get ABC or figure something out. If you live in the city and you live high up or have a window facing the Trade Center and you're looking to cut cable cost this is the BEST $29.00 you can spend, I'm going to play around with moving the antenna (it has a 20 foot cable and I can always attach another cable to get more footage to run the antenna to the bedroom windows where I may be able to get a better signal) SO yes this works in the city and you will have to play around with where you place it to get the best reception and maybe even more channels (I got Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Scandinavian and Russian Channels in that group of 60 stations) SO TAKE THE CHANCE, if this can help you cut your cable bill down to just internet service it's worth it! once I get the ABC thing figured out I'll be saving over $100.00 a month (I still need internet service, I'm not trying to live in the dark ages by living on free hot spots)

First off, use the TVFool website to see what OTA stations are available in your area (enter in your postal code or zip code, then do a search). I live about 25 minutes north of Toronto, Ontario, so I knew that there were at least 30+ free OTA TV channels from Toronto and Buffalo that I'd be able to watch if everything worked out. Unfortunately for me, this small antenna had to be placed on an inside wall facing AWAY from the broadcast TV antennas that I wanted to catch. This of course was far from ideal. I knew that I'd loose quite a few channels mounting it that way, but I had no choice, because the bedroom TV that I wanted to use it with, is located on the opposite side of the house, and that room didn't have a coax cable from the home builder going to it that I could have used to extend/relocate the antenna's amplified white box and the rectangular antenna array to a better location. Anyway, I plugged the antenna into the 'ANT/Cable' connection on the back of my Hisense 50" TV, and used a small 5v power brick to supply the needed power to the amplifier's white box. Please note, the TV already has a built-in ATSC tuner, and you NEED this type of tuner or else this antenna (or any other indoor or outdoor UHF/VHF antenna) won't catch any OTA TV stations. Anyway, I then slid the little black switch on the white amplifier box to 'distant' (which turns on the built in amplifier), and then sat back and waited for the TV's ATSC tuner to do it's thing. I ended up with 12 OTA channels (all from Toronto), which is not bad considering where I had to place the antenna. I tied it again with the switch set to 'local', but it only found 5 channels, so I scanned it again with the distant switch turned back on. For comparison, I also have a outdoor rooftop Channel Master UHF/VHF OTA antenna, and that thing brings in almost 40 channels without any issues.... then again, the Channel Master antenna is mounted high on the roof without any obstructions between the TV towers in Toronto and Buffalo, and my home's outdoor antenna. This little powered antenna has to deal with a whole bunch of walls and doors, which severely interferes with OTA signals, but it was still able to find 12 channels. I'm impressed by that. With that said, am I happy overall with this little powered antenna for the spare bedroom TV? Yep, especially when I take into account how easy it was to mount on the wall, how small it is when compared to my large outdoor one, and how affordable it was when I bought it. It's a great option for people that want to try out OTA, and don't want to use a bigger outdoor antenna.

no surprises, it works better than I thought and for the price you can't go wrong, I live in condo bottom floor and still get 15 channels and great reception

Worked surprisingly well. Wasn't expecting much so I bought this to give it a try, but it performed pretty well. It's relatively close to the transmitting tower but inside a brick and metal sided building. Also the adhesive patch is still holding after a few months. Would recommend.
