Astoundingly effective, whisper quiet, highly recommend.
I bought a $90 tower purifier which took a long time to clear the air and which was noisier than a jet engine. I lived with it, but when the Canadian wildfire smoke descended upon us in NYC, I loaned it to my downstairs neighbor, who had elderly and special needs family members, and I ordered this as a replacement. It's more than double the cost of the other unit, but based on the reviews from the New York Times and other review sites, the quality and performance are well worth the investment. So I splurged and got this unit. While I was waiting for it to arrive, the air pollution got really bad and I had been coughing, eyes were watering and I was forced to wear an N-95 mask at home just to breathe. When the purifier finally arrived, I turned it on and the sensor light went red to indicate the high level of contamination in the air. I opened the doors of every room of my apartment to let it go to work and after a few minutes at full power, the light turned from red to purple, and about 5 minutes later, it went blue. I took my mask off and the air was pure and fresh. It is an absolute superhero at cleaning a large volume of air very quickly. I was thoroughly impressed. The sensor is very sensitive and will turn purple if you are just cooking something that releases strong scents into the air (sauteeing onions and peppers, etc.) and it goes red if you're burning anything. Another upside is that my kitchen smoke detector has stopped going off if I'm grilling something, because the purifier keeps the air quality under control. At the highest setting, it's about as loud as my old purifier at the middle setting, which is to be expected, as you would only set it that high to quickly clear out a room or if there's smoke from cooking, etc. But the massive volume of clean air it blows out in exchange for that short term annoyance is staggering. However, at the 2nd highest setting it is barely detectable, producing a pleasant, white noise background sound that you quickly tune out. It makes falling asleep very easy, and if you have the air conditioner on you can't hear the purifier at all. At it's lowest setting, it blows out a nice stream of air but is utterly and completely silent. You couldn't even hear it at night time in a small, quiet room with the door shut. Amazing. They say you never regret buying the best. They know what they're talking about. This is worth every penny and then some. 5 stars, all day.

Best room purifier in this price range!
Absolute champ when it comes to air purifiers in this price range, and possibly even when compared to much more expensive models. I’ve had several room purifiers from different brands, and this is the best and most efficient. The build quality is also fantastic. Very easy to change the filter, almost instantly removes odors, and operates very quiet. Bought two, and is the only one i recommend to friends/family.

It’s worked really well for the year-ish I’ve had it
Shopping for an air purifier might be one of the most headache-inducing purchases (that isn’t a house, car, or insurance plan) in existence. So many factors have to be taken into consideration such as room size, the type of filtration, electricity costs, filter costs, noise level, durability, and effectiveness. In my air purifier research, I watched countless videos, read countless articles, and almost pressed the purchase button on countless units. All while growing overwhelmed by the sheer number of recommendations and dishonest manufacturers. After a lot of mind-numbing research, I eventually settled on this Coway unit and am very happy with the decision. I keep it in my 150 square foot bedroom on speed 2 (ionizer off) at all times. This gives me over 5 air changes per hour, and speed 2 only uses 8 watts of electricity (according to my research) so it had no noticeable effect on my electric bill. What it has had a noticeable effect on is the air quality. I find less dust on furniture and none in the air. I don’t wake up congested anymore. The air purifier gets rid of that smell when you just vacuum, litter box odors, and the dust that is kicked up when you clean the litter box. Filters are affordable when you take into account that you only need to purchase a replacement pack annually. My unit has worked well for the time that I’ve had it (and many other users have said their Coway Airmega units have lasted 4-7+ years) so the product seems durable. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and glad that I get to breathe fresher air. I can see why this unit is so highly recommended. It does what it’s supposed to do, and while some may find the design polarizing, I like it. It’s unique and interesting.

Does what it is supposed to do quietly
This air purifier keeps the air in my bedroom clean, helping reduce dust mites. When it detects disturbances in the air, it kicks into high and runs. When it is on auto, its quiet and doing its job. When the unit kicks on to that high mode constantly, you know the filter needs cleaning. Vacuuming it regularly prevents this from happening.

Mostly a great air filter
I bought this one for upstairs because I really like the first one I bought for downstairs. I have zero complaints about the first one. This new one though is noisier. We are keeping it but are a bit disappointed. Other than that, it works great. Easy to use, and filters are easy to replace.

Worth its weight in gold — still going strong after 1+ year!
I’ve had this for about 1 year and 4 months now, and it is WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD. I’ve researched and tested a lot of air purifiers, and this one is by far the most effective for everyday living. Setup & Design Setup took less than 5 minutes — just unbox, pop in the filters, and it’s ready to run. Performance & Odor Removal The HEPA filtration and air quality sensor are excellent. I have a sensitivity to smells, and this purifier clears out odors shockingly fast — my roommate’s strong odors or cooking smells are gone within about 60 seconds, no exaggeration. The air feels cleaner, fresher, and lighter within minutes of turning it on. Noise & Everyday Use On the lowest setting, it’s whisper-quiet, perfect for sleep or background use. Medium and high are noticeable but not disruptive, especially given how much air they move. Auto mode reacts quickly to changes (like frying food or candles), and Eco Mode shuts the fan off when the air is already clean, saving energy. Filters & Maintenance The pre-filter catches a lot of dust and hair, and it’s easy to clean. Filter replacements aren’t the cheapest, but they last 6–12 months with regular vacuuming, and the filter indicator takes the guesswork out of when to swap. Value For the price, it’s a great balance of performance and cost. It easily handles medium rooms, and unlike some “smart” purifiers, the features here actually work as promised. Overall: If you’re sensitive to odors or allergens, this purifier is a game-changer. It’s quiet, efficient, and genuinely improves air quality in minutes. The fact that mine has lasted over a year with heavy daily use makes it even more of a win.

Great Purifier
This air purifier is very quiet and moves a lot of air. I have it in the living area and forget it's on as you don't hear it. It will automatically ramp up the speed when it senses debris in the air, and then shuts off when it's clear (totally not from cooking mishaps). Dust in general seems to be much less, which shows it working. The replacement filters are not expensive, and the energy usage is low. Would recommend.

Reliable, effective, quiet, and smart
Living in a part of the world that's often affected by wildfire smoke, I've tried many different air filters over the years. I now own several of these Coway AP-1215 filters. They've been 100% reliable - never a failure, never a dying fan, never a squeak or vibration. They're super effective - it's amazing how fast the filter can clear out even the smoke and grease from cooking on a wok at high temperature. They're very quiet in normal operation. And the filter's ability to sense air quality and respond by increasing or decreasing flow is almost uncanny; even if I just walk into a dusty closet and back out, the filter in my workroom senses the change in the air and steps up within seconds. I would absolutely buy more of these.
