This is a must-read
I've been an agency recruiter for over seven years and would have paid handsomely for a resource like this on day one. This book is a soup-to-nuts view of the technical recruiting and hiring process. Topics range from the most basic parts of the job to the many nuances that can only be learned with experience. Whether you're internal, external, new, or seasoned, this book contains timely, relevant insights that will help you improve your craft. If you're a recruiter, hiring manager, or founder, read it. I bought 20 copies to distribute to friends, colleagues, and clients.

Should be titled HR Generalist Guide to Recruiting
If you are looking for a detailed guide to IT Technical Recruiting - this is NOT it. This massively overpriced book has very little content that has to do with IT Technical Recruiting - no breakdown of technologies or platforms, no breakdown of common IT roles, etc. It is an overly detailed walk through of basic HR Generalist roles such as insuring diversity and inclusion, creating job titles and job descriptions, college recruiting, how to conduct an in person interview, etc.

A book for practioners by practioners. Also, love the innovation in digital!
About six months ago, I started a new role where I had to rebuild a team. The tech stack and culture were different from what I've been used to, and I had to adapt and stabilize. This book was a lifesaver in my hiring process. So far, I had gotten two amazing hires who are raising the bar for the whole group. The book is not a dummies guide to recruiting. Neither is it academical. I found it as a resource that had practical advice on every aspect of hiring. You can tell it is written by practitioners from how it speaks ground truth by highlighting the nuances, danger, and confusion wherever there could be one.Setting up a fantastic interview experience has a one time fixed cost. But it gets better candidates to accept your offer over time. The book helped me see the gap that I had to fill in our recruitment and hiring process to be on par with the best in class.I would be remiss if I didn't point out the beautiful and innovative layout of the book. As much thought has been put into the book's structure and design as there is in its words. There are pointers to related content, notes from other authors, and references to other sections that all tie together like an interest graph. Just for that reason, I *recommend getting the digital copy* if you had to choose between paper or digital.I look forward to reading more guides in this format.

Practical advice from experts with experience
I've never read a more useful or comprehensive guide to hiring. Like most others, I learned about hiring bit by bit as I was exposed to it when the need merited, and always felt like I was lacking a comprehensive view of the subject. This book draws on the experience of the authors to provide practical advice for all the hardest parts of the hiring pipeline. I used the book to focus on key places I was trying to improve in my companies hiring process, but it could also easily be used to help design a hiring process from scratch. The book is clearly organized so it can be used as a reference when thorny hiring problems come up, and contains advice for any position involved in hiring.Bottom line: if you need to hire, I recommend giving this book a read

You have to read this if you're competing with or are hiring FANG engineers
As a previous engineer at some of these companies and now operating a startup that regularly competes against them for hiring the best talent, this is a must-read.Technical hiring is a funnel with many touchpoints, and often the best person to do every stage is different. So the fact that this book is written by one lead author but with heavy contributions from many others gives it a distinct advantage to the usual style of writing such a manual, which is often incomlete. It also helps tremendously that the people behind it are high-level, very recent practitioners in Silicon Valley. It's backed up with solid data and prefers tons of concrete examples to monologuing.

The most complete book on technical hiring out there
There's something for everybody here, regardless of your business's size, maturity, and whether you're a recruiter, hiring manager, interviewer, or even a candidate navigating the process.Ozzie has synthesized best practices and learnings into one source, all the way from the broad discussions such as the philosophy of hiring and candidate-company fit, to concrete examples of putting things into practice like how to write effective job descriptions.Even if you're experienced with hiring already, you'll still find clarifying content here that puts what might have been previously abstract concepts into words and concrete actions you can take to improve your process. And if you're new to hiring or looking to build out your company's hiring pipeline, this book can take you from knowing nothing about the process to being an expert.
