The Colour Out of Space

This is amazing.
I was inspired to read by the film. This is only a review of the first short story, I still need to read more. It is so good, and the fact that he died virtually unknown is tragic and seriously unfair. His writing style is amazing. This book introduces a concept that definitely inspired a lot of the horror films/books today. I don't think creatures like "It" would exist without this and his other works.P.S. The book smells really nice. Is that weird?

Bad proofreading? OCR artifacts?
I am dissatisfied with Penguin’s proofreading. Unless it is somehow codified in the canonical version of the book, which I find unlikely, there are typos and punctuation blunders. (I’m not going to mention the en dash since I guess that’s a matter of typographic taste.) Attaching images with issues circled over, I encountered these within a span of a dozen or so pages.Once I saw number 1 instead of “I”, once a missing space after full stop, and a few times encountered more esoteric weirdness. The typeface is readable and typesetting overall has no glaring issues, but these errors jump on you all the time.

Excellent read
Lovecraft takes some getting used to, but once you're familiar with the universes he creates, you get hooked pretty quickly - well, that's my view, anyway. The writing is a little archaic at times, which comes as no surprise given that the stories were written in the earlier years of the last century, but I enjoyed the three stories in this book tremendously. No wonder he's considered one of the masters of his genre.
