Hard Wood Chopping Bowl Set - 12 Inch Beechwood Bowl & Mezzaluna (Ulu) Knife - Holland Bowl Mill

Chopping IN BOWLS is how they used to do it. So much more practical than chopping ON boards -- and easier than assembling / disassembling and cleaning most food processors. Unfortunately I seem to have gotten an unsharpened mezzaluna knife, its edge no sharper than a spoon edge. Strangely it IS filed to razor sharpness for about half an inch on either side of the handle so it's possible to see what MIGHT have been but is not. If this doesn't work quite the way you thought it would you might want to check that. Fortunately I have another mezzaluna in the house, but will hope to get a proper knife from the source.

The chopping bowl and mezzaluna knife set is absolutely beautiful. I can't believe that I was unable to find it in any regular brick and mortar stores. (I searched everywhere!) Apparently there is some nonsense about microbes and wood although years ago I read some research which determined that a wood chopping board is actually safer than plastic as it retains fewer microbes. I've used my wooden chopping bowl for about 45 years with no untoward results. I can't imagine how I'd make egg salad or tuna salad without it! Years ago everyone used wooden chopping bowls and they were available to buy anywhere! I guess the scarcity makes it a little pricey. I purchased this one for my son and reminded him not to let it sit in water but to wash it and dry it immediately if he wants it to last as long as mine!

This was given to my son for his birthday as he has always admired mine which has been in our family for over seventy years and we continue to use it for so many chopping recipes. My son was truly surprised and just loves this chopper and bowl. The wood is truly beautiful.

This is a beautiful hand crafted bowl! It is really easy and nice to use for salad. I put everything in the bowl and chop it up at the same time! My kids even love it. Because everything is chopped up together, it is all about the same size and it makes it so each and every bite has some of everything. We have started having salad multiple times a week and we always use this salad bowl to chop it up! Very easy to clean! Sharp blade! Very happy with this purchase

I have had one like this for 54 years. For over 20 years my daughter has been borrowing mine. Now I decided to buy this for her. It's a tool no home should be without. I use it for chopping nut herbs and when I make Chopped Chicken Liver. Mine has a double blade on the mezzaluna, This one has a single blade, which is better because I have to stop and clear the blades every so often. This one is just great .

Should have gotten the bigger one

This has got to be one of the best investments I've ever made! If you do not like cutting your salad while plated in front of you, this is the appliance for you! I put any number of different vegetables in it with different greens and just chop, chop, chop. I put it in a plastic bag and have lunch for 3 days! I truly love this item, definitely worth the price.

Beautiful bowl and just what I wanted. Bowl came with wax so did not need to order butcher block conditioner. Mezzaluna kinife could have a "guard" on it for storage.
