Used to be good but they make it differently now and it's worse. Sort of good enough.
I've been getting this for my rabbit since June 2024 and at that time it was great. The sticks could be broken apart into smaller pieces by hand and my bun liked them. Around October 2024 I ordered again but how it's made had changed since at least 1/3 of the sticks were way too compact. Whatever they use to bond the hay together is way too hard and my bun won't eat those. I smack the sticks with a hammer and they still don't break into smaller pieces so I end up throwing those out since I don't want my bun to accidentally chip his teeth. Plus I can tell the difference with how it looks on the surface. The ones that won't break apart and are too hard are incredibly smooth on the outside while the ones that I used to get back in 2024 summer have a slight fuzzy hay texture and could be broken apart. So basically from October 2024 till March 2025, I had to throw away at least 1/3 of the sticks. I know that exchanging them wouldn't make a difference since it looks like it's all been coming from the same batch.

Made for chewers
I bought these so the chew-a-bowls would last a little longer. If your piggies like those, then they'll like these cubes. A little bigger than I thought they'd be. About the size of a bar of soap. Very nice quality, and it's not as strong smelling as regular hay.

High fiber treat for my rabbit
**Update** July 2017: Kaytee changed these hay cubes recently. They now have 10% protein (compared to the 6% they used to have) and 30% fiber (used to have 32%), so it seems they've increased the amount of alfalfa hay in these cubes, which isn't as ideal for adult rabbits. Due to the increased alfalfa, it is likely higher in calcium as well, and adult bunnies shouldn't have too much calcium. Most notably, the first two bags of these new hay cubes were now dryer, more crumbly, not as dense, and not as deep of a green color (there were now more golden hay bits in them which my rabbit leaves behind). My rabbit didn't care for the first two bags of this new recipe of "Timothy Hay Blend Cubes", but the 3rd bag seems to not be as crumbly as the first two bags, and he's happy with them again. Still, I wish Kaytee had left the formula alone.**Original Review**:My rescued rabbit loves these Timothy cubes! He thinks these hay cubes are the bee's knees. I buy them every month to make sure I don't run out. These cubes are like 1.25-1.5" square, and they vary in length. I break off a 3/4" piece from a cube to give to him every day so I can scoop his 2 litter boxes in peace. He settles right down to devour it. It's a great high-fiber treat that he loved from the very first time I gave it to him, and the protein is only at 6% so it's not too rich at all, and it agrees with his tummy. It's a treat I feel good about giving to him. It literally has the same nutritional analysis as Kaytee's regular Timothy hay. These do have a bit of alfalfa hay added, just enough to be sufficient for processing as Kaytee says, and it truly must be a minimal amount for the nutritional content to remain the same as straight up Timothy hay. These cubes really are only a treat though, I believe rabbits only use their front teeth to chew on these cubes - they need long strand hay to work and wear down their back teeth. As shown in the photo attached to this review, you can see how it leaves a bit of a mess on the carpet. It's short indoor/outdoor carpet in his bedroom, every couple days I just run my Bissell brush sweeper (it's like a non-electric manual vacuum, you see them used in restaurants a lot) over it like 15 times really quickly, and the hay bits all get cleaned up. If you have longer carpet, you might try giving this to your rabbit in a specific spot that's easier to clean, like on a towel or a piece of fleece or a piece of linoleum, though it won't do you any good if your rabbit decides to fling the hay cube around. =)

Warning, check often for plastic
Rabbits like them, but there is plastic in it. It's buried in the pieces. You can't inspect it, give it to the pet, and forget it. You have to frequently check throughout the day to try to catch when it becomes exposed to prevent your pet from ingesting the plastic. It wouldn't be good for their health. The freshness is dry hay, I suppose on the fresh side. The sizes are all different. It looks like they're made in blocks and it breaks up sometime after being packaged. Rabbits don't mind.

Good but don’t over feed/calorie dense
My rabbit loves these but he can literally go through an entire block a day if I let him so you need to be mindful of how much you’re feeding your rabbit as it can cause weight gain (even my free roam rabbit gained weight). My rabbit is currently on a break from these as a result lol… but overall a good product
