Culina Nylon Mesh Strainer - 5"

It was smaller than I expected, and the mesh was finer than I wanted.

The media could not be loaded.  I bought this for milk kefir. The 4 inch one is very small but as long as you're patient, it works well! You just can't expect to put all of it through at once. I uploaded a video to show how I do it. Only takes about a minute to strain 3 cups of milk kefir. The way I do it doesn't help this remain sturdy but so far it hasn't shown any kind of issue. So it's safe to say this strainer is forgiving! I love that it has a hole on the end so I can hang it up. It also rinses very easily as long as you do it right after using it. I'll probably get the set of 3 soon. Just to see if the size up is perfect or if the mesh is bigger.

I bought this for straining kefir grains although I've been using a stainless strainer for years with no issues. (they say you're not supposed to...) It does the job well. The mesh is just the right size to catch any baby grains that may be forming. I do need to keep scraping with a rubber spatula to allow the kefir to fall through, which is perfect. It takes a few minutes to strain the grains from a half gallon of kefir, if that long.I won't take a chance on putting it in the dishwasher, so can't comment on that. Easy to store in a drawer.

I needed a non metal strainer for making kefir. This turns out to be an excellent size for a quart of kefir (when you're straining the kefir grains out).I *hope* it will last a long time. The nylon worries me a little when I clean it, but so far, so good.

Great strainer, fits my large Anchor Hocking measurer perfectly. Sieve is fine enough for almost any grains for washing (except teff)excellent for draining whey from small batches of yogurt.Mostly I use this to DRAIN BUTTER after the first, second and third "washings" and before I put in on the butter board to work it with the butter paddles.I then pack the butter back into for rough shaping into a solid mass before returning it to the board to use the butter mold.The butter comes cleanly off the nylon mesh - which is much better than my experience with a plastic sieve.

Great product!! My wife and I have had the same metal strainer since the year after the Earth cooled. I looked at it a week or so ago and, when I finished puking, I realized that it was not going to really clean up no matter what I did. It looked like it had gone down with the Titanic. So I ordered the Culina strainer. I have never before seen a strainer that is made of plastic or nylon. I expect this one to outlast ME, so I am going to bequeath it to my daughter. I'll bet right now that this becomes a hand-me-down family heirloom. "You won't believe this, Joey, but your great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather bought this 300 years ago, and it still looks new!!"

This “4 inch” strainer is about 3 inches across, unless you count the outer plastic bit that has nothing to do with straining. Also the mesh is pretty coarse, about the same as a stainless steel strainer.Update: added a star because even though it’s not 4”, it fits my funnel and gallon fermenting jars perfectly, and I appreciate the tabs that let it sit on the rim of them without needing hand holding. Also the mesh is smooth and gentle to my kefir grains.

So this looks really fabulous, the mesh is exactly the same fineness as the metal kind, but it's connected in a really great way, which is that its actually melted into the plastic handle, so there's no stray ends and no chance of it pulling out of the handle! This is a really seamless attachment and is going to minimise any potential for mould and make this guy real easy to clean. I'm really pleased.I got these to use for sifting powdered sugar and flour for meringues and other historical recipes, because I really hate metal flour sifters and I'm not historical enough to use cheesecloth and a spoon (lol)! I definitely feel like this was worth the price.

Ero alla ricerca di un COLINO di dimensioni contenute per il KEFIR ed ho notato questo prodotto di 10 cm in plastica con maglia in nylon.Il colino arriva nella sua bustina trasparente con all'interno un cartoncino del produttore.Messo subito all'opera il colino e le dimensioni dei fori delle maglie risultano validi ed efficienti per il kefir.Nel complesso un articolo che mi sento di promuovere, pagato 4,99 a gennaio 2018.In quanto alla consegna, anche in questa circostanza è stata precisa e puntuale grazie al servizio Prime di Amazon.Mi auguro che questa breve recensione possa essere di aiuto per altri acquirenti.

Ho comprato questo colino per filtrare il kefir viste le recensioni positive. Il prodotto non e’ male, ma decisamente non e’ a maglie ‘dense’. Non e’ a maglia fitta, le maglie sono larghe, di dimensione 0.5mm. Servirebbero molto più strette. Infatti una volta filtrato il kefir trovo moltissimi ‘puntini’ nel filtrato, cioè le colonie più giovani. Qualche colonia giovane resta dentro comunque, nuove colonie riescono a formarsi più grandi di 0,5 prima di essere filtrate, nonostante ciò ma non sono completamente soddisfatta poiché aspettavo che le maglie fossero più fitte.

Avevo deciso di fare con i grani di kefir del formaggio ma la maglia di questo colino è troppo larga...speravo fosse più piccolaUtile invece il suo utilizzo per filtrare le tisaneColino di diametro 14 cm in plastica bianca

Ho acquistato il colino per separare i grani di kefir dal kefir stesso. L'articolo è arrivato puntualmente, involucro intatto. Devo dire che fa egregiamente il suo lavoro, le maglie sono veramente fitte ma allo stesso tempo il kefir scende senza difficoltà. Contenta anche per la leggerezza del colino, sembra fragile ma non lo è affatto. Come durabilità non posso esprimermi perché è veramente troppo poco tempo che lo adopero. Un po' caro ma ne vale la pena. Ho fatto due volte l'acquisto perché una mia amica l'ha visto ed è piaciuto molto anche a lei.

Acquistato per separare i grani di kefir dal kefir stesso. L'articolo è arrivato addirittura di domenica (ECCEZZIONALE!!!). Maglie fitte ma adatte a far filtrare senza problemi il kefir. Contento dell'acquisto, prodotto robusto nel genere. Mi riservo di modificare il mio parere più in là quando ne avrò testato anche la durabilità.
