I am teaching the kids with a 0 background in music. I started with Abeka music with flutaphone with the kids to teach us some good basic concepts. This is a great book to add to our collection as it is very easy to understand for people that don't have a music background but want to be self taught or teach kids.

Granddaughter has begun playing the violin. I found this book helpful with visual instruction and easy to follow music. She has already sent me a video of her playing Happy Birthday to me.

Got item for my granddaughter, as she is a beginner who expressed an interest in the violin. Great for any beginner wanting to learn how to play the violin. Easy reading. Yes, patience & determination is all we need. Thanks!

I thought the book could of been made a little easier for kids just starting out.

My niece and my sister in law have been learning the violin, and this book has helped them in their endeavor..this is definitely a good book for kids and also the adult can learn from it too

My 6 year old grandson got a violin for his birthday and started lessons.

Yes, the book has very bold, large printed letters and notes. Yes, it gives some, but not mush, good information. BUT, it assumes the "beginner" knows a fair amount about reading music; consequently, it is NOT titled properly. Additionally, it is very poorly organized. Many of the symbols, like the symbol for rest, are used at the very beginning of the book, but aren't talked about or taught until later in the book. Furthermore, there are many irrelevant drawings peppering the pages of the book; they aren't related to the discussion of the music. As much as I would like to return the book for a full refund, I think I would have to pay shipping back to Amazon, which would negate the return advantage. Don't buy this fraud of a book; instead, purchase a legitimate beginner's violin book.
