This is a great probiotic. First of all, I like the NOW brand, and it's usually reasonably priced. I've been taking this particular NOW 8 Billion Acidophilus and Bifidus for years, and found that it is perfect for me. My healthcare advisor told me that if you take a probiotic with too many strains of bacteria, many of the strains don't survive in your gut, and the probiotic bacteria strains also compete against each other in your GI system, so you don't know which strains are surviving and actually helping you. Likewise, if the probiotic does not agree with you, you don't know which strains are the culprits causing your unpleasant symptoms. I've found that taking just these two very common strains, I've gotten the most benefit, no gas, no bloating, no other GI issues from taking them. They are very easy on the stomach and GI system. NOW also has the Acidophilus strain by itself, if you want to start out with just one strain. I recommend taking just one or two strains at one time, and be sure to read the labels of probiotics that have ALL KINDS of additives, prebiotics, pectins, extracts, seed hulls, fiber, etc. Beware of all the hype of taking all those things in one capsule, as it will be difficult to tell what's helping or hurting you. Also, I like to try anything new in a very small quantity to see if it agrees with me. With the NOW probiotics, I was able to easily open up a capsule and dump some of the probiotic powder, putting the capsule back together, leaving about 1/4 of the powder in the capsule. So you can take small amounts to start. I tried mine at first by mixing a very small amount of the powder into almond milk and trying it that way. Once I knew it agreed with me, I started taking the whole capsule. This worked really well for me. It is always good to get an eval by your physician to rule out GI issues that may not respond to probiotics.

I've been having digestive issues for a while with constipation and slow transit time I've been taking these for 4 days and have been regular since and consistency is perfect nonstomach upset just great results.

It's only day three for me but I already have some results to talk about. For starters I'm a once a day gal ... 12 hours after my first pill I go 2 the bathroom every time I eat something. The first 2 times was substantial, after that it was much much less. Don't let me scare you, none of them had me on the run. It was just a normal "gotta go". As for the reason I bought this - bloating. It's not gone after 3 days but it is no longer painful and my stomach isn't a concrete ball. I have tried many MANY of this type of supplement. I thought for the price there was no way it was going to help me. Like I said, day three and it's doing something. I'll update in a month.

Good product at a good price. Thankfully Amazon has them on the subscribe list so I never run out. Acidophilus is a must for my daily health. Some supplements I can live without but not this one. NOW is a trusted brand and I use many of their products. There is a debate on the refrigeration of Acidophilus but for me as long as put it in the refrigerator when I get it, all seems good. I have purchased directly from a store that keeps them refrigerated but they didn't get there in a refrigerated truck so who knows how long they were exposed to heat. And the stores charge a lot more. What to improve your digestion then get this product. Highly recommended.

With the given news about the majority of supplements failing to contain what they display on their label, I decided to test this product out. You can simply release the contents of one pill in a bowl or tupperware of milk, sealing is preferable to simulate the anaerobic environment of the gut, and the milk will curdle within 12 hrs, which it did for me. So at the very least there is active bacteria in here. It also seems that probiotics are a game of numbers compared to the trillions of microbial competitiors already residing in your gut, so 8 billion matters more than the 1 billion. The bottle was not expired, citing Dec 2016 on their label. The pills were as advertised, and no affront to the senses. My stooling habits have seemed to improve, watery burning diarrhea from malabsorbtion secondary to bacterial overgrowth has seemed to resolve for me. Could still be placebo or passage of time.

I've been taking these for a couple of weeks now. I do believe they work pretty good!! I've been struggling with IBS-D for years and it seems these probiotics have helped calm the symptoms!! Not gone 100%... but a significant improvement!! I take 1 in the morning before breakfast. Have taken a variety of probiotics for years. I think the NOW 8 billion CFU is the best for me so far!! Best strains for small intestine (Lactobacillus acidophilus) and large intestine (Bifidobacterium lactis + longum). Good quantity for a good price!! I'm Very Happy with this purchase!! :)
