Why would you cover copper wire with Tin? You know different metals in an electrical circuit can spark right?

Tin is a base metal. You coat copper wires with tin for use in high moisture environments because the tin will help protect the copper wire from early onset of corrosion. You also tin small strand wires to hold them together to better make sure all the strands are making a connection for conducting the load. Look into marine wiring if you are curious about the prevalence of tinned wires.

Are all 4 red color ? Do they sell black too?

All the same color, more orange than red.

Will these work for 48v nominal (~55v upper voltage) systems?

They use 10 gauge stranded wire. 10 gauge (solid) is what folks use to wire electric water heaters and is rated at 600volts A.C. - 30 amps. I am looking at one I bought right now, and the wire IS marked 600 volts right on it. They can be used for 40 amp loads at lower voltages in my opinion since they ship with 40 amp fuse directly from the factory. So it seems that 45-55 volts would be of little concern as long as you keep the amperage under control. 120 volts @ 4 amps translates to 12volts @ 40 amps which is probably why they are equipped with 40 amp fuses from the factory. Obviously, you would use a lesser rated fuse at 45 VDC. Looks like about 10 amps or so to me.

heavy duty and well made

Worked great for me, was impressed by how heavy duty it seemed. I've bought cheap electrical parts that are clearly a lesser gauge than advertised here but this really does seem like it's 10 AWG or very close. Fuses are included but I didn't see them initially as they are dark purple (is that the standard color code for 40A?) and hidden down under a flap of the box. They were there I just didn't see them at first.

Good automotive blade fuse recepticle to protect from solar overcurrent.

All four pass continuity with fuses installed with negligible impedence. Installed MC4 connectors on either side to protect my solar panels from overcurrent. They still seem to be working fine as of 4/25/26.
