Starts well but operating manual would help
Added the oil & fuel (E5 to be on the safe side as no info on new petrol) and it started on first pull. Didn't need priming at all. Don't know why they even use the term 'silent', it's not but I didn't expect it to be.I would say the noise level is acceptable and expected for a generator but SILENT it is not. It runs smoothly and cleanly which is good enough. There are no operating instructions at all and the only online instructions I could find were for a different model. Luckily it was similar and explained most switches etc. Red switch = on/off Black switch = economy mode but only with NO load. The large round black Knob is the fuel shutoff for when not in use.I hooked it up to my converted container office and it worked as well as could be expected. My mini oven was too much for it when set to full power fan oven but again expected. Just check appliance wattage and keep within the generators rated capacity. It's only on standby in case Solar can't cope occasionally so too soon to say how well it will last. Happy so far.

All most impossible to start
I have had this 6 months and it still doesn't start easy. The carb is running to lean and there is no adjustment to fix the problem. You have to run it with the choke pulled out about a third of the way. The only way to start it ( and it has been this way from new ) is to open the fuel drain plug on the carb bowel ( not the bottom one but the one a little above that ) and get fuel every where and on you. Not only is this dangerous but it won't start unless you do this. Not happy at all. But when it is running ( and it does run a little rough even with the choke pulled out a little it misses but with the choke all the way in it misses all the time ) it will do the job if you can get it started. If you want to exercise your arm muscles buy one. ( I am a mechanic and all this needs is a new type of carb ) Did get in touch with the seller and they said they are hard to start and would take it back but Amazon at the time didn't have any more and buy the time they where back in stock it was to late. Until I can replace the carb I guess I will just keep getting soaked with gas. If I had it to do over I would have gone to a store that sells generators and have them start it in front of me to make sure it ran fine and started easy before I would buy it.Fallow up. Had to send it back they sent me a new one and it had the same problems ( very hard to start and ran really rough with out load ) returned it for a refund. Found another one with electric start that runs great. Champion CPG4000E1 3500W Open Frame Petrol Generator and it only cost around 30 pounds more. It is not a inverter one but if you get a Dynamode 6 Way PDU Extension Lead- 13A Multi Plug Switched Power Distribution Unit (PDU) Rack Mount Charging Station with 2M Cord Cable for Home Office 19 Inch PDU Server Cabinet with Surge Protection witch Amazon has you are protected from surges. Amazon was more then great in the refund and pick up of the generator that didn't work right. Thank you Amazon.

Super quiet & easy to start
Great generator, replaced my old Autojack with this Impax. I thought my old one was quiet. This is even quieter. Really easy to start & even has a fuel gauge that my last one was lacking. It is quite heavy & appears well made. Really happy with it so far.

Started first time
Arrived well packaged. Filled with oil and petrol connected an earth rod as wellAfter a couple of pulls and choke adjustments it started and ran fine.No issues so far - but still to use in anger. It is a tad heavy and I think I might get a little trolley to wheel it about if I need to to. At the moment it is static being used in case of power cuts as we live in a rural area.

Not as quite as advertised
Advert says 59 dbs label on machine states 98 why !!!!!!?????I would have thought that at the price they could have at least supplied the oil to start it upOtherwise looks like a good bit of kit

Spot on for my needs
It's by no means "silent" but it is very quiet. I bought this to run equipment from the back of my van and it works perfectly. Filling it with oil can be tricky but it does come with a funnel to make the job easier. It's quite weighty so wouldn't want to carry it too far.Starts first pull of the cord, and does the job perfectly.
