Blackmagic Design Video Assist 5'' 3G Portable Monitor, Recorder, Scope, and Viewfinder

Used this to record video out for minimally invasive procedures. Great quality and flexibility.

Game changer for my live video engineering troubleshooting workflow. Wish it had full size SDI ports but I love the form factor so it is what it is. I'd love to see a slimmer usbc charging version of this that ditches the camera batteries.

It's pretty hard not to love the Blackmagic Video Assist. Besides the obvious application as a video recorder and monitor it provides the ability to gather a bunch of information about whatever signal you input. This makes it an invaluable tool for live production technicians. I wouldn't show up at a camera op, projectionist, or video engineering call without this piece of tech in my case. Just make sure you also buy a pair of micro bnc adapters.

I have an older one, they have changed it and the newer ones get extremely hot. Can't be good. I am talking burn your hand hot. If you are recording for a short amount of time it may be fine but for long length I would find something else next time.

Works great but records in a format that my computer doesn't recognize.....AND the unit that I have gets pretty hot.

I use this for recording anything from live televised ski races to yacht shows. It's broadcast quality and easy to edit. You need to Play around with it to learn the menus and formats though.

When I received the box, it was a little crumpled with no cellophane. Not a huge deal. But then when I opened it, the item was obviously used. Not packed correctly, protective sleeve jammed underneath the monitor, the screen protector was on crooked with dirt underneath it, and dirt on the monitor itself. Scratches on the back where batteries slide in and out. And the wires were just tightly wound around themselves instead of neatly wrapped as if it was new. Asking for at least a partial refund. (It works fine...) I'll update to see what Adorama's customer service does. ****UPDATE**** Adorama refunded approx 10%

Eigentlich 0 Sterne. Defektes Gerät wurde eingesendet. Nach 2 Monaten zurück bekommen und gleich wieder defekt. Kontaktaufnahme mit dem Verkäufer unmöglich. Verkäufer ist plötzlich nicht mehr auf Amazon. Und nun steh ich da mit defektem Gerät und keiner Hilft mir

I found the description of the device and what it ACTAULLY did was rather unclear and hence delayed buying it for some time. The product description seems to concentrate on the display panel attributes but not the extended recording capability. It was not unit I talked to someone who had this device that I realised it would do exactly what I wanted. The devise itself is excellent and allows you to use just the optics of your camera and also record for extended periods of time.
