I picked up the HBX 16889 about a month ago as my first proper RC truck, and I’ve been having a ton of fun with it. I didn’t really know what to expect going in, but it’s honestly been way better than I thought, especially for a brushed setup. Beginner-Friendly and Fun to Drive As a total beginner, this truck was a great way to get into the hobby. It came ready to go — just charge the battery, plug it in, and hit the throttle. It’s fast enough to be exciting, but not so fast that it’s overwhelming for someone new. Handles pavement, dirt, and short grass pretty well, though it can get a little bouncy on rougher ground. Battery Life – Better Than Advertised One of the biggest surprises for me has been the battery life. It came with two batteries, and I actually timed it — I get around 30 to 40 minutes each, depending on how hard I’m driving. That’s way longer than I expected for a brushed RC at this price. Being able to run that long without needing to stop and recharge has made learning and messing around a lot more fun. Tough and Takes Hits I’ve crashed it more than a few times while figuring things out, and it’s held up great. The plastic is flexible enough to absorb impacts, and nothing has broken yet. It feels like it can take a beating without falling apart, which is exactly what a beginner needs. Controller The remote isn’t fancy, but it works really well. It’s comfortable to hold, responsive, and has good range. No issues with signal or lag so far. Final Thoughts For anyone just getting into RC, I’d definitely recommend the HBX 16889. It’s easy to use, fast enough to be fun, and surprisingly durable. The fact that it came with two batteries and can run for up to 40 minutes per depending on how you drive — that’s a huge plus. This truck really made me want to keep exploring the hobby.

Review of the Haiboxing 16889 1:16 4x4 Monster Truck I've owned several RC toys over the years. From $50 not so good, to spending a weekend building a $300 1:10 scale sand buggy kit. I've had cars, trucks, drones, helicopters, and boats. This sub $100 truck really surprised me. It's amazing what level of vehicle this is for the price. It's been some time since I've had an RC toy, and after a conversation, I was told I should check out Haiboxing RC trucks on Amazon. I'm an early retired Mechanical Designer & Engineer. This means I'm usually pretty tough about reviewing something that requires good engineering. Like I said, I was surprised. After spending countless hours assembling RC products, it's a welcome relief to get a "real" RC truck already assembled. No spending a whole day or weekend putting it together. Another nice feature that I was glad to see was that it included two batteries! Yes! For years, I've been saying this needs to be done. And, the batteries have a long run time (30 min +). I've included a couple pics of charging stats from a high end charger. Pretty good batteries. Charge time can be a little long with the included charger, but it intelligently charges, which is good. The handheld controller is pretty basic, but has one feature that's great for letting lesser or non experienced people run this considerably fast truck - there is a throttle governor that lets you turn the throttle down to as little as only 40% of available power. Great for the younger kids in the neighborhood. I'm impressed with the obvious attention to strength engineering. Many structurally important parts have material removed to lighten the vehicle, but careful attention was paid to creating multiple surfaces on different planes in the cutouts to increase rigidity of the part. Layout is intelligent and attention to balance seemed important. I did notice a little tendency when jumping to go nose down sometimes. Watch the video to see I didn't hold back when it came to punishing this truck - it's tough (spectacular crash ends the video). A week of jumps, speed and throwing dirt everywhere, it just asked for more. A few embarrassing slides into a block wall and a couple mis judged trees got in the way as well. Close inspection still shows no signs of damage. Kudos to the engineering team that designed this - well done. Another cool feature is the immediate availability of factory upgrade parts. You can get aluminum oil filled shocks, and several tougher drive train components are available - even a wheelie bar! The truck also comes with a complete replaceable parts list and assembly instructions. It would be nice to see a better motor / speed control / battery upgrade as well as other parts. I found only a few caveats; one almost not worth mentioning... The page of decals were pretty stuck to their backing paper and I couldn't use a few because a layer of the paper backing came off with them. Another is the included battery charger takes a little long (over an hour, less than two). But, I'm spoiled with getting a charge in less time than it takes to run the other battery down. I mentioned it felt a little front heavy when jumping the truck at speed. Overall, I really like it. It's pretty fast and certainly seems faster than advertised because of it's scale. It's remarkably tough. I crashed and misused it enough to see it'll keep going; hopefully I'll get better at driving it! I can definitely see getting some upgrade parts, trying different tires, etc... It's good enough to make better. Most assembled, out of the box, RC toys of this size and price just aren't worth the effort - this one is.

Got one for my son 3 years ago. It’s way faster than any RC car that I had as a kid! A ton of fun and easy to control. However, if it’s going to be something other than a once in a while use, I highly recommend the pro model. I currently don’t see it, but it’s normally 30 bucks more? The difference is long term durability. This model uses plastic parts. Differentials, spur gears and so on. They will wear out. We completely rebuilt it recently with metal spur, drive gear, differentials, oil shocks, upgraded to brushless and and added the brushless control module. Every thing is readily available due to being mostly standard with several other vehicles. But cost me about 80 bucks more to achieve what I could of paid 30?40? More for built. That’s the only reason for the 4 star. Oh and their customer service is on point! Have a question? They respond quick. Also there’s a Facebook group that’s extremely helpful. So if you are looking to get your little one a fun RC car, or even yourself and want to upgrade as you go, there’s non better than the 16889!

Great indoor truck. It has fallen many times, landed all kinds of ways and is still as good as new. This 100% worth the money. It is a great beginner truck. Trust this review, please. It is absolutely AMAZING! It doesn't float in water as the pictures show. It is also great outdoors. Very fast, very powerful, and VERY fun! Please get this truck, you won't regret it. (Side note: the driveshafts can come off if you jump it and land a certain way but they are really easily put back together. I recommend getting the solid metal driveshafts because my sister has an RC with those and they haven't broken. I also recommend getting the oil filled shocks but they aren't required.) Absolute amazing RC. 10/10 recommend.

It's little and tough as nails. Quick and full on the fun factor. The HBX Racing 4x4 RC Truck comes with everything you need to get blasting through rough terrain, all on a low cost budget--compared to it's expensive hobby grade counterparts. The box contains 2 1000 mah lipos with dean connectors, remote control with convenient speed knob, charger, instructions, led headlights, and it even comes with spare body clips with plastic pull tabs! The car itself is mostly plastic with a few metal components. Plastic is good though, in general, flexing is good for bumps and crashes! It has a little brushed motor that works great for the size. Adjustable screw shock tension. And the electronics appear to be splash proof as advertised. There are option upgradeable parts and the wheels come off with a phillips head or hex driver. So I put this little beast to the test and it comes out swinging like a champ! I jumped it, crashed it, rammed it into hard objects, and even jumped it into my swimming pool--and it is still functioning perfectly! In conclusion, you get a whole lot of fun for a moderate price. Take care of it and it will give you lots of fun.

This little guy can move! I had kids ages 5 to 14 using it for about an hour (2 batteries) and everyone loved it. I was able to adjust the speed of the car from the remote for each kid and it worked like a dream. Took some hard hits and kept on moving. And what I like about it is that the parts are easy to find and you can purchase the upgraded (metal) parts for a decent price, so every time you break something it an opportunity to learn (and upgrade!) The car outperforms the Bezgar's I have purchased before, so I am sticking with HaiBoxing from now on.

This thing has so much power, I can’t imagine how much the power and speed the brushless Pro version has! These will definitely hold up to abuse, and have a great selection of parts as well as metal upgraded aftermarket parts. I’ve rebuilt the drivetrain on this one and well as put metal suspension and oil filled shocks for a much better ride. The vehicle responds well with the remote, and battery life with the original battery is pretty good 15 to 20 minutes running it wide open. I don’t recommend this RC for kids unless they very familiar with them, just because of the speed and how fast it can get away from them. It’s definitely more of a teen or adult toy. Update: I had an issue with mine that I probably caused, the company went above and beyond to make sure I had a great running RC car. I’ll will definitely be buying more from this company in the future.

The package seems tampered, all the pins were loosely rattling in the box. The plastic pouch containing tools seemed used. The car has a problem in going straight , even after fiddling with wheel alignment controls on the remote. Only one battery of 2k mah included. Uses some outdated battery connector, I was expecting Dean connectors. Do not buy.

This truck is perfect for bashing for all types of roads. Spare parts (in case needed) are readily available online. Highly recommended for beginners like me or anyone that is new to the hobby. Great truck and true value for money. Suggest you buy spare lipo batteries (similar size) as this truck will take a lot of your time playing around.

A small powerful beast!! Even with speed set to half it is very fast. We did jumps the first day and it stood very firm and durable. The control is very accurate and drives fun. My daughter loves it. Having the LED is simply amazing. U know which direction you are driving at night. Will surely recommend!
